When did you have to change your OEM clutch?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

Just over 87k KMs on my 2012 B8 S4. Noticed sometimes when my foots to the floor on clutch the car doesn't start first try - dealership said this was as the clutch will have to be changed soon. When did you guys change your clutch? I've only launched my car once or twice, and the occasional spirited driving. Just wondering what sort of life it may have left in it.

    Thanks,

    JK

Had this same issue with my 2012 S4 at 50K miles. Was able to get a new OEM clutch and flywheel replaced under warranty (miraculously), but interestingly enough the service manager informed me that my clutch still had about 50% of its useful life left. This symptom in and of itself DOES NOT mean you need a new clutch, based on my experience.

Mine still working fine @ 70K. BTW, how do you get a clutch replaced @ 50k under warranty? I did have the clutch replaced under warranty @12k on my 02 A6 2.7t. Warranty is over at 50k and clutch is usually excluded.

Mine is fine at 85K so far with no signs of slipping, but I'm starting to put money back for a new clutch and flywheel anyways

Entirely dependent on how you drive. Mine has 101k miles now and I've just started having some issues with it not wanting to go into first gear sometimes

Theres also a massive thread about exactly your problem, normally within the first few pages of posts

The ole push clutch to start issue huh? Im pretty sure this issue is only on b8's not b8.5 but I could be wrong. There's one master thread on this issue but good luck wading through that 1.. If I knew the solution I'd tell ya

I think this is the thread. As stated above, no clear solution in posted in it.

Actually bypassing the master cylinder is the clear solution. Have had this for 3-4 months without any issues and no codes whatsoever.

Yeah, I don't think the clutch itself is to blame! 180K on a stock clutch right now! No slippage, only under 1-2 WOT shifts

Mine never slipped and never had any issues until the day I changed it at about 88k miles. The only symptom was that it was very hard to physically shift gears - especially into 1st or reverse. Never had starting issues or anything like that.
