    2016 Audi SQ5 rear ended

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After 3 weeks of owning this beauty, some girl decided her texts are more important than other people. She rear ended the Audi and now the exhaust is out of place and bumper is damaged along with the trim pieces. After looking for oem parts online to get a ballpark estimate for parts only. I'm going to have
Mark II Collision in Lynnnwood do the repair. From what I can see is that the exhaust is one twin piece welded. Please correct me if I'm wrong. If the shop will be replacing the whole thing. I might as well have the shop buy and install a aftermarket exhaust. I can't seem to find a oem exhaust on AudiUSA.com to see how much it'll cost. The valance itself is like $800. Maybe even a aftermarket valance will be sourced. I'm estimating a 5k repair bill for insurance.

Why are you doing all the work and research? Just have the insurance take care of it all for you. Especially get yourself checked out medically, that's a bit more important.

Hopefully you're ok. I'm guessing you're ok cuz you're posting here.

    Anyway,

Definitely get a check from insurance.
    Invest in aftermarket exhaust.
Even a carbon fiber rear valance if you choose . Would look so sick

Just some free time and nothing to do, I guess. If insurance will be cutting the shop a check, I'm may be able to work something out to add some money on top of the cost of a new exhaust. Might be opportunity to upgrade the exhaust.

I'm guessing you'll find that the aftermarket exhaust will be less expensive than OEM

Totally agree! I replaced mine with a CF one from Carbon Designz and I absolutely love it! If you decide to go with the original you can paint it Satin Black like the 2017 SQ5 Black Ops Pkg. I still have my original one if your interested in purchasing it for $300 shipped if you want it. You can get a MagnaFlow Catback Exhaust for $1,100 that is valved like OEM which some of us have and are really enjoying them. Glad your ok, that's all that matters.

The wife and I are ok but we'll have a trusted chiropractor look at us.

I'm looking at a milltek exhaust.
    http://www.uspmotorsports.com/Exhaus...Oval-Tips.html

My brother in law has the awe track exhaust. Really throaty and fierce. But from what videos and reviews I've read, the milltek sounds great for street with quiet drone but wakes up at WOT.

I've used pretty much every accident to upgrade to better parts for pennies on the dollar. Go for it!

Glad to see it was not a hard hit.

Just did the same with my Golf R, grabbed the euro front bumper to replace the US spec one.

This is a no brainer if the are replacing the whole catback.

It truly is so nice with insurance how the check can be mailed directly to you for you to decide how to fix the vehicle.

I simply pay my shop the difference very common. I've done bumpers, lighting, lids, wheels etc. Nothing shady though ;)

I can't speak for the Miltek but there is a good thread on the very topic floating around. The owner says he gets some drone in the lower RPM band and in comfort/drive mode. Miltek is a very nice system. Based on my research I found it to be a bit more "F1" than "Maserati" and I preferred the latter but that is just a personal preference.

So I have the AWE Touring exhaust installed and I absolutely love it. The only drone you I get is for about 30 seconds after startup when the car is rough idling. After that, nothing at all. Inside the car when the RPMs are low (think day to day driving, comfort mode, D) you really wouldn't know the difference from OEM. It is civilized and refined. When driving more aggressively, the thing growls like an angry lion. And from outside the car it always sounds deep, throaty, angry. So check both the Miltek and AWE out but definitely don't go back to OEM!

Glad to hear you're okay but sad to see your SQ5 hurtin.
Is that the girl's red Accord in the pic? Curious to see what damage her car sustained.

She messed up the bumper and bent the lip on the hood.

Also when I was driving behind my wife this Sunday I noticed that the right resonator is misaligned. I didn't notice that before. And I don't think the shop noticed it in their estimate.
Quoted 750 for a left side OEM resonator. It's one welded unit for sure. Since it's one unit I'll talk to the insurance estimator to supplement for the whole exhaust. If all goes well, I'll be have the shop install a AWE touring after listening to Freesoles exhaust.

No point of filing for that. It won't show on carfax any ways and I don't plan on selling it. The reason I bought it was to modify it completely when it's 15 years old like a b5 s4.

Ok, I hate leaving money on the table. Just FYI, once a claim is opened through insurance and a claim is made with the vin number, it's recorded as an accident. Only way to hide that is if you never reported to insurance and you pay cash to the body shop. Being it was her fault, her insurance company would pay for the diminished value claim. When I took delivery of my 2011 VW Touareg TDI, I had a woman do the same. I filed a diminished value claim and received a additional $2,500 extra since the value is no longer there once I traded or sold it. Doesn't matter if you keep forever or sell in 2/3 years. The value is no longer the same. Just being helpful.

It's addicting really! Few more weeks and my wife will be revving the engine in the driveway and annoying the neighbors. I haven't had the chance to install them yet! Customers want their houses finished before the holidays and working nonstop. Too busy to even have a normal lunch.

I looked into filing and was told that filing would further diminish value for some reason. I've never heard of it until a few weeks ago. I've had a family member with a 11 Audi s4 get rear ended similarly two years ago and go through the same shop and when I checked his carfax for the heck of it and nothing indicated that the car was ever in a accident. Unless the owner disclosed that information I think. And his bumper looks like it was factory painted too.

Yup filling claim will .... I have had 2 cars Honda 2013 CR-V and a a brand new 2016 Altima that where rear ended by some dumb people either not paying attention or paying more attention to their facebook app and i did what anyone would do. Called into Gieco they got them fixed and 3 months down the lane when I went to trade these cars in for my new Q5 ..... guess what 2900$ below the price coz it shows up on car fax.....

Wished I had know about the diminished value claim details then...... :( ... driving inBoston city is horrible and the roads are even more horrible especially around China town !

Not sure how to post pics but my '14 SQ5 was hit hard from behind last year by a full size GMC work van. Hit hard enough that the OEM trailer hitch went into the spare tire well and took out the battery. The battery has a safety mechanism which blew which filled the cabin with a sulfur smelling smoke. No airbags went off though. It was undriveable, display said "steering defective, do not drive". Car would not start, sat there dead in middle of road. Rear hatch, exhaust, bumper cover, valance, floor pan, taillights, backup camera, etc, etc. With supplements $24,515 and they repaired it. I negotiated a diminished value payment of $5,892.
The exhaust is one piece factory and the replacement is in sections. Mine was bent so bad that they replaced it all. PIA was to make them align the exhaust tips afterward so they are perfect. The body shop did an incredible job, you cannot tell it was hit.

I with jpsjr...you're just leaving money on the table by not filing.

The accident happened, the value is diminished. You can't be sure that your insurance, the shop, her insurance, etc will never release the accident info with your VIN or data to Carfax or any other entity. Why risk it when you can guarantee a settlement now? Even if you never plan to sell the car, you're at least being compensated for the hassle of the accident.

I agree with this too :) Diminished value is a good idea. Note the reason your value will decrease is if the accident shows up on car fax . It you have national insurance agencies like Gieco,State Farm , liberty Mutual or Amica it's almost guaranteed that you will see this on your car fax within 3 months of your accident. Here is some legal info from carfax.com please read it !

That's some story. I can't even imagine my wife's being that damaged. I don't even want to. Glad you are ok from that ordeal. My shop estimated 3k for parts and 2k labor. If yours was damaged so hard that it required 24k of repairs and got 6k in DV, honestly I don't know if it will be worth my time to filing claims and getting evidence of DV and receiving a couple hundred.
