Anybody with 100% stealth airride installation?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

I have read the full thread with airride builds for B8's. However I see everyone's 'stealth' install is in the spare tire space.

I'd love to keep my spare tire and install everything on more 'uncommon' spaces. Anybody who has done this?

If so, please leave a comment, how you installed it and if possible, add some pics

    Regards,
    Prom0

If you are creative enough it can be done.

There is a guy in the B8 Air Ride thread who put his tank in an empty space under the hood by the passenger strut tower. The manifold and compressor(s) can then be spread between the two trunk compartments on either side.

i mean, the trunk is big enough to have the compressor and tank all the way in the back.
theres also a way to have the tank mounted to the trunk (so when it opens up the tank lifts up with it)

as far as keeping the spare. that aint happening.

I've seen that yes. Thanks for the reminder. Might have to check back under the hood.

The trunk simply is no option. I need the full space and am keeping the spare.

Like dj_juice mentioned. I want to place valves + compressor in the side compartments.
I'm looking to place the tank behind the rear bumper or something like that.

there might be some room under the car where the passenger side muffler would sit for the tank perhaps?

Funny this pic shows no mid pipe resonator, and much smaller rear resonator!

I'm getting rid of the original exhaust. Placing a full Milltek catback race system. Have a S4 B8.
Might have some place below indeed... Good idea :P

Lol..not really.. good luck with having an exposed air tank and compressors " underneath the chassis"

If the side panels are used, only the tank would need to go under the car. Large commercial truck have their tanks mounted exposed to the elements. As long as the tank has a solid finish on it or is stainless, it would be fine. He could also buy a different tank that fits the space he has available.

Offcourse it would only be the tank. Compressor and valves will be mounted in the side conpartments.

Was even thinking about making a tank behind the rear bumper.

The a4 with single exit exhaust should have that flat plastic cover to protect/cover the area where the other muffler would sit on s4s

I'll check that when replacing the intake for a CTS intake. Thanks for the input!

I have been planing for the same thing. I thought about the tank by the rear bumper but in the event of an accident I feel that would be an issue. Just food for thought here, I measured up 2 444's a seamless 3 gallon and management in the spare, you can then flip the spare over and raise it up about an inch and build a false floor it only raises a total of 3-4 inches in the back and is the same level towards the seats as factory. Otherwise the tank will be fine exposed to elements, iv had an air tank exposed for 5 years and no issues. If you find a place to put it let me know!

Ive seen guys mount the tanks inside the cabin under the rear window. You know on like the shelf sort of behind the headrests. Might block some view but could work if done right!

Good luck with this! Interested to see where you go

The tank in the bumper, no way it's super dangerous, defiantly no TUV there haha. But everything in the spare under a raised tire might be ok. It's just raising the trunk floor up a bit, as long as it is made and designed to break incase of a hard rear end crash.
