    is there any value in a 3.0l that's lost compression in 3 cylinders or are they just a boat anchor now. I just purchased a newer one for my car.

    How much lost compression? How much did you spend on the new motor and where did you purchase it ??

    It would depend on if the engine is salvageable and the extent of the damage that's preventing compression. At the very least, you could probably get some money for the good parts left in it.

    Yes. At a minimum the crankshaft can be sold to the 2.7T crowd for a 3L build. Figure you can pull a few hundred bucks for that alone, assuming it's in good condition.

    Well cylinder 1 55psi #2 65psi #6 50psi. Cylinders 3,4,5 are at 125psi. Motor still runs. Figured it would be cheaper to buy a wrecker motor than to rebuild. Motor has 207000kms no alternator starter or ac pump. Paid 1100$cdn for a replacement with 147000kms

    I wish I could sell my old 3.0 for any money at all. Right now, it's just sitting in my garage, taking up floor space.

    Whats your reason for not going with the 2.7t??

    Oddly enough, I also replaced my damaged 3.0 V6 ASN motor, with another 3.0 V6 ASN. I'm doing an engine swap next summer, but I'm not really into the 2.7T.

    I've never owned an Audi before so don't really know much about them. Always been a Chevy guy. Had this car for three months so I figured the easiest thing for me to do and the cheapest way to do it was just to stick with what the car had. If I pop this new motor then I will look into other options. Not sure if the previous owner hurt the car before I got it or if it was the supercharger that was on it but I can't really see it being the supercharger it's been on the car for about 70000kms according to the original owner who put it on. But me being the 4th owner since then I am pretty sure some one else did the damage. I only put 10000kms on it since I bought the car

    I wasn't aware your 3.0 was boosted, Ryan.

    Out of interest, how did it drive, before it went bang? Did it pull strong? Did any dyno graphs come with the car?

    Depending on when the supercharger got installed and what tune it was running, that could have been what caused the issue, it may not have happened until a different person was driving the car though. The later tunes were known to cause engines to go boom.

    Well considering I've never drove just a stock 3.0l I think it pulled really hard. I did smoke a brand new Dodge Ram in a light to light drag lol. Didn't get any dyno specs with but was told it was pushing around the 330hp. I do know it was pes G3 system but most of the issues I heard about them making motors go boom was with in a couple thousand kms and I think they were catastrophic failures mostly not just loosing compression. I could be wrong though. I will be putting the sc back on this new motor cause I don't think my computer will run a non sc motor and a stock computer won't run my car because the imobolizer has been disabled due to a aftermarket stereo. Not totally sure though like I said new to audi.

    OG smoked a dodge ram a while back and he was real giddy about it. I guess I need to be on the prowl looking for one to challenge to boost myself esteem lol.
