Are mechanical parts linked to the VIN for warranty?

Example: Car has damage to a mechanical part due to accident so the 4 year/50,000 mile factory warranty obviously doesn’t cover it. New part is $1600, used around $350. If I install a used part, what happens say a year later if it goes bad while the car is still under warranty? Will Audi be able to tell it’s not the original part? I imaging they record the serial numbers of the engine and transmission and would know about those, but what about smaller things, alternator, a/c compressor, brake booster, etc. for example. Do those also have I.D. connecting them to the car?

Most all components have a manufacture date on them, if you have a 2012 and install a 2009 (alternator for example) it will probably be noticed but may not, depending on how Audi does there warranty audits.

It's all fun and games until you hear the German engineer say "spank me harder than a bottomed out suspension daddy"
