Lowered with Neuspeed springs and mag ride...suspension noise

So i have a 2016 s3 with advanced handling package(mag ride) and i have swapped out for Neuspeed springs and superpro front and rear sway bars. I have also changed the end links for both front and rear. I get a squeek when travelling at low speeds over speed bumps. Its at the dealer now and they performed the tsb for rear struts. The dealer reported back that still a bit of noise coming from rear. They are going to lube all the joints and road test it again on Monday. I bought 034 strut mounts and bearings for front but dealer is not comfortable with installing aftermarket parts. Kinda in a bind here.....im guessing its the mounts....i also have a hunch it could be front subframe related??? Car does not feel tight.

I was advised by my mechanic that with my audi s3, since i have the mag ride, i shouldn't lower the car. It's only for looks (which case i wanted it for looks lol). He said any car with adaptable suspension (our case mag ride) shouldn't touch the height of the car. It's just all kinds of issues. Coming from a lowered Integra GSR back in the day (race springs), it was a lot of issues.

I Feel the S3 is quite low enough, and now i have 17s for my winters, its like a small 2 finger gap. Honestly you can't really tell if the S3 is lowered unless it's beside another lowered S3.

Sorry, i had nothing really productive to tell you about your issue.

putting racecar parts on your car will cause it to make racecar noises (mag ride or not). usually only at low speeds going in/out of driveways and such. if it gets excessive you can get all the joints lubed, but it will become a yearly ritual.

    progressive springs make binding noises.
sways and endlinks make squeaking noises.
rear adjustable lowering spring perches can make clunking noises.

Thats not true..... i had a mk6 gli and i had coilovers and it made a squeek noise when stopping or low speed bumps... i read that i had to change the strut mounts and i did and it was as quiet as oem after. The car makes noises like it has 200k on the suspension when it only has 10k. Im going to wait and see what the dealer comes up with......eventually i will swap out both bearings and top struts along with subframe collers in the spring...just wanted to see if anyone else has been experiencing same noises?

If you say so. That's not been my experience with multiple modded cars. Good luck on your quest for a quiet racecar.

Squeak is usually going to be bushing related (possibly from a poly sway bar bushing, etc.). Suspension components will usually make more of a clunk or chatter if there is an issue with the hardware.

Its hard to describe the noise...not quite a squeak but it does make the noise when the suspension is going over a large speed bump at low speed bump on exiting when the suspension is at its most depressed rate or just about to be. Never did it before just started doing it. The dealer is going to lube all joints and take it from there...
Regardless in the spring i plan to upgrade the strut mounts along with bearings from 034 as well as subframe collars.

We have installed numerous MSS kits without any noises. This is a common known problem for mag ride cars (clunking) when replacing the stock springs with a spring set not designed to be used with mag ride. But I know what you mean, you typically should expect some NVH from stiffer, more robust components.

OP - Sorry to hear about your troubles. Noises can be a pain to track down, but this is a fairly common one.

i had this exact clunk with VW Raceline springs. i replaced them with ED springs and the heavy duty strut mount and bearing kit from ECS tuning. no more clunk, no more pogo-stick ride. its perfect.

No pogo here and no clunk as well. Only makes noise under slow speed and grade changes like speed bump or driveway.

Usually the dead coils on a progressive spring will rest on each other when the car is at ride height, but you could be getting some noise as the coils contact. You can take a look at the coil itself and see if there is paint rubbed off between the active coils. If that's the case, some spiral wrap would deaden the noise you're hearing.

In my experience it takes a lot of effort to get it quiet and it's been only temporary in my experience, so I just don't care anymore, as long as it's safe, I'm good.

My last two modded cars made noise and my current two modded ones make noise. My B8 S4 makes coil binding noises, sometimes it happens more often or not. At one point the car was getting really squeaky, so I had the sway bar bushing and endlinks lubed, that quieted it down, but after a few rainy days took a toll on the lube, it started to make noise again, still not too bad. My 8V S3 makes coil binding nose, about as frequently as by B8 S4 does. I was getting random loud clunks in the front, but 034's Front Subframe Locking Collar Upgrade Kit has helped a lot with that, I think I'm just hearing coil bind now. In the rear, the spring perches have a tiny bit of play in it, and it can bind up and suddenly shift causing a loud vibrating knocking noise when going up steep driveways or speed bumps.

It's just been the nature of aftermarket performance parts for me, but it's only a small annoyance that's well worth all the benefits gained.
