    Putting in my Q7 order

I'm going to put in my Q7 order next week. the interior combo I'm going with is Nougat with the layered Walnut. Has anyone seen that combo in person or have some pics. I just don't trust the build tool on the Audi site, it doesn't do the paint colors justice so I'm figuring the same is true for interior. My local dealer only has gray oak and black interiors.

I would really like to see it in person before I say for sure yes that's what I want. I just like the Nougat brown, which I have seen with the Gray Oak/Ashe whatever kind of wood that is, and I think with the layered Walnut that would be a warm feeling interior. One thing is for sure it would be unique.
I read on Audi World that there are some production delays with Driver Assistant packages and Black Optics vehicles. My wife says she could live without Driver assist but I'm not I wanting to give that up. Highbeam assist and adaptive cruise control are what have me sold on that option. Traffic sign recognition seems pointless to me, I have my own traffic sign recognition, called eyes. How much influence does the lane assist provide? Like if I swerve to miss a blown tire in the road or even a deer, am I going to be fighting it to avoid from running over something?

We have the Nougat Brown with the Layered Walnut and I'll be the first to say I wasn't too thrilled with the look at first. As it grew on me over the months, I really love the combo now and it does give that warm contrast that we've never had.

Lane assist can be set for early or later reaction. It mildly keeps you in your lane; steering wheel vibrates and corrects when you have met the threshold, but doesn't prevent you from swerving if needed.

That color leather and the wood remind me of baseball.
Good to know about the lane assist. I didn't really get good demonstration of using it and I certainly didn't want to try that out on my over night test drive.

Something I posted a while back in another forum that may be of help....

Okay, I will preface this with there is no right or wrong choices when it comes to colors. We all have different tastes and the best choice is the one YOU like best and choose. So this is just food for thought....

When I was shopping for my Q7 I knew I wanted a brown interior (was not yet sure if I was going with the nougat brown or bumping up to the luxury package and getting the cedar brown). I naturally assumed the best fit color wise for the inlays would be the layered walnut or the Terra Brown. Then I started seeing some pics around the web, on dealer sites etc. Some photos displayed color tones better then others, but I was seeing something (was not sure quite what it was yet) that caused me to second guess going with either of these inlays. So I started seeking them out in person. I am glad I did because it was a learning experience.

I like cohesive interiors. For me, multiple tones and textures are fine if they fit within the overall color scheme. With the dash, black gloss trim, steering wheel, carpet, vents, possible headliner etc. all being black with either of the brown interiors, I noticed the Terra Brown and Layered Walnut inlays sort of clashed. Okay, maybe clashed is not a good word, but the browns hues in these inlays do not blend with the brown hues of the seats. They add yet another color element into these two interiors which was a bit much in my eyes. Then I saw the gray which I thought in theory would be the worst choice. Turns out, the exact opposite. The gray oak is more cohesive when matched up with all the rest of the black portions of the interior. It adds a subtle bit of contrast without being in your face.

Now take the Terra Brown or Layer Walnut inlays and see them in the beige interior they look amazing and the Gray Oak the odd man out. Take the Gray interior and the Terra Brown or Layered walnut are almost a necessity given so much gray everywhere else. Black interior, can pretty much go with any of the 3 and be safe.

Anyway, again, these are just my own personal thoughts that may assist some when shopping around.

That is food for thought. I would love to see that combo in person. My wife did mention the black carpet and all soft touch stuff being black may not be very cohesive. Nougat brown is the interior I am wanting and initial thoughts were to go with Layered Walnut but without seeing it in person it's tough to make that call. My local dealer just got an Ink blue Prestige in with Nougat brown interior. So I am going to be checking that one out but I think it has the Gray Oak which may turn out to be just fine with me. I will just have to check it out. I have dogs and a five year old little girl so I want something that's not going to show stains dirt or dog hair so darker is the way to go. I can just see my Beagles white dog hairs standing out all over the black leather and that is my main hang up on the black. I'm not so worried about the Weimaraner's hair since he's dark gray. I have Moonrock gray interior in my Passat now and besides wanting something different, it shows stains in the suede inserts pretty bad. I know there are no suede inserts in the Q7 so that shouldn't be a problem but most just want something different.

Yes, definitely go see that blue prestige and see what ya think. It will indeed likely have the gray oak. Are you getting a black headliner or the grayish one? If you are getting the grayish one, I would definitely consider avoiding the layered walnut inlays, you really have a lot of tones going on then. By the way, the gray inlays usually appear pretty dark as its the lower layer below the gloss black and also beveled downwards. Only in bright direct sunlight does it really show its true gray hue (doors open or sunlight falling just right).

Part of the problem for me with the layered walnut and the brown interiors can be easily seen in the picture you posted above of the door handle. The layered walnut is lighter in tone then the leathers. Beautiful by itself, beautiful in a black leather or beige leather interior, but against the brown leather interiors especially the nougat brown ( because of the brown panels in the door), it adds another color tone that does not really fall into a cohesive color palate with the rest of the inside the cabin (again, imo). Now if Audi offered the brown interiors with brown dash, brown steering wheel and carpet or a combo of brown and dark beige etc, I think the layered walnut would look spectacular because all would be within the brown tones color palate. I was very surprised because "on paper" the idea of gray inlays combined with the brown leather sounded like it would be all wrong. In person, total opposite for me.

After looking at different interiors and trim. I think the Terra burl wood with its color variations will go best with the Nougat brown interior considering the black pieces that are standard trim for all the interior options.
One concern I wonder about the brown interior, is do I need to worry about dyes from blue jeans transferring to the brown leather?

We haven't had any issue so far with later discoloration from jeans over the 6 months of ownership.

We've had two Nougat Brown seats. They just don't go well with any brown-toned wood Audi offers. A shame and it's just ridiculous. Audi needs to dump Nougat, and Cardamon, and try something else. Just my .02.

No one here likes the Gray interiors, huh? Well, I clearly know that since dealerships almost never have gray interior in stock. I'm on my third Audi with Gray interior, darker gray in my first '98 A4 (not sure what it was called since I bought used) and Limestone Gray in both the 2010 A4 and 2014 Q7. Dark exterior, light interior, I always find this the most handsome combination. Why am I so alone? Oh, and it doesn't get nearly as hot in the sun. I also find that it doesn't get any dirtier than black or brown, which seems to be a concern for so many.

Anyway, how does the Rock Gray look? I can't find it on the lot, of the 30 Q7's my local dealership has, not a single one has the Rock Gray interior.

I like the gray. My choice would have been Florett Silver with Rock Gray, but the wife wanted the Pistachio Beige. It seems the dealers order mostly black and brown. We didn't see many with the gray or beige. The black is okay, but the wife hates the brown. We wound up buying the first Pistachio we came across, which lacked the DAP and towing packages that we wanted. She liked the beige so much, she said she could do without the DAP, and they're adding the towing package tomorrow. Our main desires were the P+ or Prestige with Cold, Vision, and towing, so we made out alright and I was able to get her Christmas and birthday present before Christmas. No regrets.

It funny you say that because I have ended up with a Florett Silver with Rock grey interior. I don't have anything against a grey interior my current Passat SEL has a grey interior, I was just wanting something different for the Q7.
