I was really excited to finally have time to install my new AWE exhaust on my 2013 A7. The install went smoothly although it is fairly time-consuming.
The Good:
Aesthetically it looks great
Full throttle over 3k revs it sounds FANTASTIC
The Bad:
LOUD at 2500rpm - One of the aspects I like most about Audi's is how refined they are. With this exhaust, I wanted a better tone but I did not want a "rice-rocket with a huge muffler" sound. The problem really only seems to be around 2500 rpm when the motor is slightly bogged. I am not sure what to do at this point. Initially after the install I had no resonators on the car with the AWE exhaust...that what holy sh!t LOUD. I went next door (friend of mine with a custom exhaust shop) and he put some bigger resonators with packing to try to quiet it down. It helped but it is still way too loud for me. Everyone stops and looks at me (not in a good way) when driving down the street.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Do the downpipes from AWE help or only make it louder?
I am going to contact AWE today and see what we can do. There might be an AWE exhaust in the classifieds soon...
