Passenger Occupancy Detection controle module Indexing?

So... I did a seat swap and my dumb ass forgot about the DIY part of keeping your old POD module (the gray box under the seat). So to be clear, no I can't just use my original one.

I've bought a couple different used ones on eBay, and have been unable to reset/reconfigure the module. I get a fault in my airbag module 15 that says "passenger detection not configured" or something like that.

I've tried the commonly known VCDS basic setting/output test procedure of 1. updating the POD S/N, and 2. resetting the POD. The POD module refuses both commands.

I assume this has something to do with some sort of indexing beyond the P/N.

Anyone have any knowledge about this scheme? Is it a SW version that must match too?

SUCCESS!!!! So here are the steps. You will need a VCDS.

This works when you get the fault " Passenger Occupancy Detection Not Configured."

DISCLAIMER: Audi does not recommend mixing and matching POD modules and the POD sensor jelly pads. So do this at your own peril. I went this route because I forgot to recover my original POD module from my original seats.

    1. go to module 15 airbags
    2. [07 coding]. Copy the original long code and copy it into the new code. Click do it. This is CRITICAL step. It will probably give you an error but you have to do it anyway... blows my mind why, but trust me.
    3. [16 Security Access]. put in 20324 (or whatever pops up).
    4. [03 Output Test]. Choose "Seat Occupied Recognition Serial Number" in the menu
    5. click start. It should be a green timeout or complete message. It should not say "refused." click stop.
    6. [16 Security Access]. put in 20324 (or whatever pops up).
    7. [03 Output Test]. Choose "Resetting Seat Occupied Recognition" in the menu
    8. click start. It should be a green timeout or complete message. It should not say "refused." click stop.

    The end!!

Thank you so much for this! I swapped in S-line seats today and wanted to try to find a way to adapt the current module before I ripped the seats back up to swap the original one back in.
