    Repairing driver side door Harness

So I just picked up the B6 and the only issue it has is that there's no power to the driver side front door.
I pulled apart the rubber grommet which revealed this...

After a brief search (and help from old guy) I found a replacement diy but I couldn't find a cheap one for sale.
I checked wolf auto and they only have the passenger side harness. Genuineaudiparts has it for about $220 plus shipping..
I only spent $2000 on the car as a winter commuter and don't really want to spend another $250 on a harness.

So my question to you guys, how easy would it be to fix it, and is it even worth it?
I know I'd have to take the harness out completely, because there's no room to do anything by the door hinge. I know it's most likely a temporary fix but if it lasts about a year I'd be happy.

Oh, and I'm not very "electrical wire savvy"

You could just splice the wires, putting short sections in and using butt crimp connectors if you don't want to replace the full door harness

I think I'd take the door apart, splice a foot or two into the door, run new wires with crimped terminals up to the old connector.

Just did this repair a few Days ago. It's Not too bad. Just raise the window, Remove Door card and speaker. I initially spliced the wires to get my windows up then later picked up a harness at the yard. Hardest thing was figuring out how to release plug from the car.. There is a Brittle* pink locking clip that needs to be slid/pushed forward before pressing the top and side release clips to pull the plug out *smh to german plugs*

So what I'm gonna do is pick up a used harness from one of the part outs on the forum...
    Thanks for the replies.

I had issues with the 2002 drivers side door wiring harness so I thought that I would install the wiring harness from a 2004 donor car that I had. Unfortunately the wiring harness's are not compatible. So I had to reinstall the 2002 harness and repair it. Its been 8 months and no problems so far.

are you sure there wasn't anything wrong with the harness? There's only 1 part number for the b6 driver side door harness...

I've been thinking about my story and I didn't tell it exactly right. I was fixing a 2002 B 6 that I had bought with a broken TB and it needed a drivers side door. I had a 2004 donor car that I had wrecked and I knew that the power window was good so I put that door onto the 2002. Because I'm not very smart I cut the wiring harness off of the 2002 wiring harness plug during removal. Now I went from having a fully functioning power window system with a small rust hole the door to no working power windows with a good door nothing worked windows, door locks, or the dome light . I was trying to figure out what was going on and I noticed that the label for the part # was not the exactly the same on the two harness the last part of the number was a letter they each had a different letter at the end. Upon closer inspection when comparing the plugs the wire colors were not in the same position on the plugs so they didn't line up. If I remember right I tried to get a harness from an Audi salvage yard they didn't have one for my 2002 but they told me which letter at the end of the part # would work. So armed with this information I went to all of the local salvage yards looking for harnesses with these letters @ the end of the part #. The harness that I got can operate all of the windows from the master switch but unable to operate the rear windows from their switches and these windows could be operated from their individual switches before installing the 2004 door. That's what happened when I thought that I would just swap out a door. Its amazing how much trouble I can get into with what seemed to be something simple and straight forward.
