My son just turned 9 months old today and he too has out grown this infant car seat, which had a 30" height limit. He used the Cybex Aton Q as an infant seat, I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an infant, no fitment issues. Highly regarded in terms of safety, you can check the independent crash test results online.

(some one earlier in the thread mentions that their child is 25 lbs and still can use their infant seat, I believe that is a misstatement, unless I misread the post. Usually the height/weight limit is either or, that is the way it is for the seat my son uses. You can use the seat up until the child either reaches 30 inches or 30 lbs, or whatever the limit is. So once either limit is reached, you must discontinue use of the seat.)
As of the OP's questions, since my son has outgrown his infant see, I have ordered the Clek Fllo for him.

This car seat allows the child to be rear facing for a long time past the recommened 2 years of age. Remember that the safest position for any child in a car is rear facing, the longer you keep them rear faceing the better. I plan to keep my son rear facing well past age 2, some parents go up to 5 years old or older.
Again, this is one of the safest car seats for a child, I am a very safety oriented parent. Note that all seat must meet minimum government standards in order to allowed into the market, but there are some seats that just go way beyond those minimum and this is one of them. I haven't test fitted this seat in the S4 but I don't think it will be an issue, this is a pretty compact seat, you can fit 3 across in a sedan. And I don't mind giving up a couple of inches in leg room if it means I will have comprise the safety of my son. My balls can stick to my butt checks for a little bit on the drive. Honestly, I don't think a couple of inches makes that much of a difference.
I feel that the Clek Foonf and Fllo are the safest seats on the market (I'll let you do your own research on this), and the only reason I didn't get the Foonf is because of the weight. We are only getting one seat for now and didn't want to have to lug around a heavy seat between cars. Both these seat have crumple zones, so if you ever get in an accident, the seat will drop and absorb the impact, awesome technology for a car seat.
This is my opinion on car seats, some of you my have different thoughts but this is how i feel.
btw, the seats I mentions are a little on the pricey side, not sure what your budget it.
