Audi S4 B6 4.2 Oil consumption due to PCV valve

Was wondering if anyone had any experience with the PCV valve on a 4.2. My s4 has always had oil consumption problems but latly it is getting really bad. When I first got the car it was about a quart ever 500-600k. now its way worse. after moths of owning the car the PCV valve was making a weird noise. I was able to prop it and tighten it to make it stop but im reading now that the PCV valve can actually cause oil consumption. I know I probably shouldn't have propped it to fix it but now im starting to slightly hear it again. wondering if its getting worse which is causing more oil consumption. I always thought it was due to bad valve seals but im wondering otherwise. Any thoughts???

I'd change the PCV in your situation. It significantly helped with my oil consumption. Don't go aftermarket, get the oem one. Aftermarket ones fail within a week. Ask me how I know that...

Would this apply to a B7 RS4 too?

I'm not fully familiar with the pcv system on the RS, so I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on that engine can chime in. Def applies to S4 B6 & B7 tho.

Which brand of oil are you running? I've noticed the few times I've ran mobile 1 - 0-40 euro formula my car didn't like it.....and consumption was the worst I've ever encountered even compared to when my valve seals failed. I only run liqui moly oil now and don't have any issues. I'd start with switching up your oil and PVC to see if your improve your consumption issues.
