I can't speak for NY but the machine work i had done to balance my assembly was about 450 and another 150 to inspect and hone the block, and it needs to be balanced, the theory of drop in rods is just ridiculous on any engine, when i got mine back they showed me that its was 2grams out on the whole assembly, this was with the newer rpm I-beams. if your looking at having the shop doing everything, plan on over $3000 if not more. At a minimum you should have the bearings replaced while everything is out, and new rings. with machine work(block checked and honed, balanced assembly) and all the parts, I spent $2500 but I put the engine together myself. If you set on doing it call around to a few shops that work on audis and ask them for recommendations, and then talk to the machine shops you find and see what there experience is with the 2.7.
Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

At that price might as well rebuild the engine

I did, I replaced every bearing and thrust bearing, all new oem rings, and the rpm rods with arp studs. you also have to factor in things like rear main and crank seal, and all the little things, as well as a timing and headgasket kit.

We can certainly help you with that we are currently building two Tial 770 cars and know this platform quite well.

    Thanks,

beautiful engine but I think Syracuse is about 5 hours from there haha. I spend a good amount of time out there and its a hike to anywhere.

I don't mind traveling though because getting this engine built would be worth it.

call them up then, like I said call around to shops that work on audi, they seem to do quite a bit on them as they showed so may be worth at least a phone call. good luck with who ever you decide on and your trip down the rabbit hole haha. Also when you get the engine back, break in is key, I still haven't got that far yet as my build has crawled to a stop being 2 hours away from the shop I use to work. once I get mine done I'm going to be breaking the engine in on my k04 setup until tax season. Then shooting for a single bw efr 9180. possibly fed by an eaton m90 but thats depends on the control system for the bypass I'm trying to design.
