Sold my S7, just hated the body roll and boat feeling, now thinking between Rs5 and M4, has anybody driven them both, witch is better for everyday driving?

    Rs5 or M4

For daily driving I'd say M4. My buddy's M4 rides better even than my s5. It's also got plenty of useable power making highway passing much more effortless. HUD and automatic led high beams are sometimes pretty useful and nice to have. The rs5 sounds better, loves to rev, that's it. If you can wait, I'd wait for the new TTRS or the new v6tt rs5.

the only advantage the rs5 has over the m4 is awd, which may be the decisive factor if your primary criteria is everyday driveability. the m4 is faster, lighter, has much more accessible everyday performance thanks to the torque band, newer tech, newer styling...but you're asking in an audi forum so i doubt you'll get objective answers here.

when any female ( or male ) sits in the car, and when the engine growls, panties will automatically slip out due to lubrication. same can be said when said female ( or male ) stares at the exterior of the car, especially with the DRL's on

I'd say the M4 is for sure better for a weekender, track toy etc. For daily duty, I'd say the RS. Much sexier/less shouty, nicer feeling interior, sounds tons better and AWD.

Not sure how much AWD you will need in DFW. But same opinion in terms of DD and sleeker for RS5.

M4 is louder looking not as refined but a good bit faster. See what kind of numbers you are working with too if that matters to you.

M4 if you want a car you can stare at with your friends and talk about how fast your car is, but make excuses about how you can't drive it because you get no traction when it's cold, wet, snowy, icy, etc. Then plan out a track day with your friends months and months down the road.

RS5 if you actually want a car that you can drive whenever and in whatever conditions, all while inducing moisture in the pantaloons of the opposite sex.

Rs5 is a dinosaur compared to the m4.

And in the cold/snow, both cars will be undriveable with summer tires. With winters the rs5 will perform better but the m4 can be driven as well.

Regarding performance, the M4 is the better car. No argument there. And most everyone on forums love place huge emphasis on performance figures. But most don't even have the balls or skill set to get the good out of that car. Even the RS5. If the top performer is important, and you can extract, go M4. I'd personally love to spend some time with one.

It's not even about pushing the car to its limits. The m4's performance is much more accessible in most everyday driving situations since you're enjoying the benefits of the torque from low rpms. The rs5 is the one you have to push to 8400rpms to extract that power.

Rs5 is certainly a nice car in many aspects, but i don't see where it objectively comes out on top of the m4 in any most given situations. Also taking into account that new for new it cost more than the m4.

Agreed on the torque and access to it. And you know what I was getting at. The ones who shit on the RS saying it's slow and the M4 is so much faster and so on... Most of those that select the car for that reason will never even realize those capabilities.

well gladly the B9 will be TT so it will always be ahead of the game, no more tuning your A or S to be faster than the RS will ever be

Who wants to drive a stick daily? I'm sure someone on here will cry standard is the only way to go, but sitting in traffic is awful.

well the way i look at it.. since they are all FI and the RS has the headstart with the TT .. you can always mod for mod be the fastest.. unlike the B8 where the A5 and S5's fully modded will blow its doors off

    No comparison.

The rs5 is heavy, nose heavy and understeers. The M4 is so performance detail oriented it even has a carbon fiber roof.
Need for awd and frequent bad weather is the only reason I would take the rs. Even in that scenario I would be inclined to keep a front or all wheel drive beater and take the M4.

IMHO, it's preference. I'm Audi all day so my answer would be bias. But! Here's some truth.... I owned a RS5.. the RS5 imo is not a good daily driver it has sport suspension so the ride is considered rough. I've never rode in or drove a M4 so I won't comment on it. On the flip side... If you want you commute to be excited and arrive with a smile the RS5 provides that easily. The smile comes with a price also... Gas. I'm sure the M4 is more economical, the exhaust sounds like Tokyo drift to me but some people like it. Imo Audi are built better, I have friends with BMW's that drive loaners more than their own car. So, things to know about a RS5, oil change is about $225-275, brakes, rotors & pads $2000-2500, oil & anti freeze will need to be checked & topped off occasionally, it will burn thru soft rubber compound tires, it's addictive, beautiful & attractive. Good luck!

I traded my car with a Dinan tuned m4 owner for a day. At the end of the day, we both preferred the RS5

Sitting in traffic with a manual is just as equally painful as sitting in traffic with an auto. It's second nature once you're used to it.

This. I dislike traffic no matter which vehicle I'm driving that day. I did stop daily driving a manual due to having bad knees though. If my knees were in better shape I wouldn't have had DSG listed as a "must have" and would have gotten whatever I found first.

M4 with a manual. Otherwise you may as well get a corolla.

This really sums up how I feel about my RS5. I know it's not the fastest, but it's comfortable, it's fun, and those exhaust burps get me every time I get in it, even with the stock sports exhaust that will eventually be replaced.
