    RS7 Transmission 1st gear engagment

So, when driving in slow traffic (typically highway stop and go) does anyone notice that even when applying very light gas from a stop it hesitates for a moment and then seems to aggressively engage 1st gear? I notice this also when waiting to pull out of a driveway for instance. I will lightly press the gas and it will have a slight delay and then lurch forward. Its not a long delay nor is it enough to cause any sort of dangerous hesitation, just a very odd mechanical disconnect feeling. Even passengers have remarked at how jerky the car can be (especially when in manual mode, but also D) while in low gears. I also notice that no matter what drive mode I am in, the auto downshift while coasting to 2nd is very noticeable. It just does not feel smooth like 3-4 or even 2-1 does. Am I the only one or do other RS7 owners notice the transmission's gear changes are very noticeable in the cabin when driving at normal pace? I expect it to be more harsh when at 3/4+ throttle but during normal driving it seems of to me. Then again I do have a way of convincing myself something is wrong when its likely a normal behavior for the car! Dealer was not able to replicate and says its likely due to the transmission learning how I drive, in the City of Chicago, every day.

I know this is a completely different vehicle with a different version of the 8 ZF but I had a 2017 A4 loaner and it was like butter around town.

Dealer has a point so you can have the box reset and it's learned values cleared. Had this done in an stronic box and it worked. Also try the 034 transmission mount, even just a few miles driving driving with it today and the gear changes are noticeably smoother and crisper as are manual downshifts.

I have the same hesitation in my S8 and I assume it is a drive by wire problem rather than a transmission problem. There is just a delay in recognizing the throttle input that was not there in my previous mechanical throttle cars. I also get this when I floor it at speed and wait a full second for a downshift and surge. Hate this. As a consequence of the delay, I find that driving smooth from a stop can be challenging. There is no immediate reaction to soft throttle input so I sometimes go too far and get jerked.

Having 8 gears also may be a factor in the delay, at least at speed when it seems some thinking needs to occur regarding the correct kick down gear.

Would love for programming to address this delay. If I could just automatically start in sport mode, that would be welcome as well.

I have a 2014 susuka grey and it has that delay also. Maybe it is the color ! (That color is no longer available.) I will try the 034 tranny mount and report.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! I'm going to give it a try as well
