    EPL Stage 2 - Review/Updates

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
First let me start off by saying Chris and Tony at EPL are amazing. They have been working with me the past few months in getting my S6 on their beta Stage 2. Chris has been in contact with me almost everyday discussing the stage 2 tune and my overall impressions.

Let me put it to you this way, since installing the stage 2 software the car is a true animal. Between stepping on the gas and just driving casually I have grown to love the car even more with the performance tune. I finally was able to make it to the track and run the car, and it ran perfect, no issues, no chocking, no faults. I had several people at the track already ask me about the tune and pointed them to EPL.

With all the work Tony and Chirs have been putting in, I can only see it getting better. I browse this forum daily, and I know certain people have concerns about different issues, for example... cylinder deactivation. Tony was already on top of it and had me testing to see if this is something possible to tweak. Being able to flash at home between the updates he sends and going back to stock/Stage2 is the ideal setup for me. I am extremely happy with EPL and will continue to build my relationship with them.

I was able to get 1 run in at the track (due to the fact the track was overbooked) and Chris was very happy with my time. I told him off the bat that I know I can run it better.

So I will leave this thread open and continue to update as much as I can.

Thank you Chris and Tony and everyone else at EPL!!

Agreed with EPL being great to work with. Like Saxon, I'm interested in what your "stage 2" is. I find that lots of folks have different definitions of what that means. To me, stage 1 is a tune (regardless of octane), stage 2 is plumbing, and stage 3 are turbochargers. Not everyone looks at it that way.

Not sure on tire specs, but they were stock wheels

EPL Stage 2 with Milltek downpipes and exhaust and a ROC Euro intake

    93 gas

And yes stage 2 is downpipes and the stage 2 tune.

Using drag time's app info its was 77 feet. Using nation weather service info it was 110 feet. Using dragtime info and the pressure on the slip it was almost 500 ft. Needless to say it was not negative but still very favorable.

Catless and with what is currently going on.. I will say not installed by EPL. We are advocating high flow cats now a days.

Thanks Tony, I will have to run cats to keep the smog police happy here in Nashville. What is the realistic horsepower/torque that the DSG will support in your best guess? I don't expect you to be an authority, but that seems to be the weakest link to me.

I will also be running catted DPs for emissions purposes when I go that route.

Out of curiosity, why do you favor catted over catless?

This system came this way and I actually am ok with the no cats. It is much louder which is the only thing, but otherwise I am VERY happy with the non cat exhaust.

Those are some excellent results OP! Great job. Seems like EPL's stage 2 on 93 octane is working well for you.

Unless that stage 2 car also has a stock or stage 1 baseline dyno on the same rollers in similar conditions, those numbers are near pointless.

Yes we have a Stage 1 dyno and stage 2 dyno. Just have not released anything yet as we still have not fully released the stage 2 tunes.

I want to put my input on EPLs stage 2.
Mitch and I went out together, he was having issues with launch control though. One MAJOR thing I want to point out is that his Roc Euro intake isn't installed properly, his snorkel is missing. So basically he has a hot air intake, probably pulling some good amount of timing with those IATs. He is also on a beta so this is just the beginning. I should've logged his car but I had my garbage laptop with me.

We did a pull and you can see the 1mph trap. I'm sure once the roc euro issue is fixed well probably see another 1-2 mph gain on trap.

Chris you're on the right track.

I also believe APR ran a 11.388 on stage 2 so EPL has the stage 2 on pump and with the right launch it'll go down to 11.2 maybe 11.1 if the issue is corrected

    Thanks for the input!

2 notes... This is actually now the production file! And thank you for pointing out the pump gas record. I've danced around "claiming" it, but I believe EPL now is the quickest pump gas s6/s7 on stock turbos!

These cars are so much fun to tune. I can't wait to keep developing on them!

I just had installed the stage 1 ECU+TCU today and had a quick test drive and wow such a beast! I can only imagine how stage 2 feels and I need to be honest right now I will be scared to floor it with stage 2 installed :) Mods : custom 2,5" free flow exhaust and k&n with slightly modified oem box

I am looking forward for a updated stage 1 and 2 dyno graph as well

Good Job EPL so happy with the tune! Looking forward to receive the pulley for the q5 as well! More feedback to come!

    Cheers!

Something I've done in the past, I've donated money for a stock vs stage II dyno. I'm willing to donate $20 if OP is interested in getting his car dyno'd stock and then stage I and others are willing to chip in. Of course there are bolt ons that will skew the stock HP. But we will know what the tune alone adds. I guess this is a forum where most people can afford the dyno quite easily lol

Nice run on your S6 OP but either that EPL Stage 1 S4 totally botched it or something's wrong with the car/tune. The 2.0s 60' probably didn't help the 108 trap, you sure S4 wasn't stock lol.

I can switch my tune to the Stage 1 and OEM, but i have DP, exhaust, and intake already installed which I won't be removing. So we can in reality see OEM with FBO, stage 1 FBO, and the current stage 2 FBO. $125 for 3 pulls is the usual for a dyno run. It's actually over priced a bit. I have gone to dyno days and paid $75 for 3-4 runs. BUT donations are always welcome

Ok some updates on my set up : Apr dp installed yesterday and now running EPL stage 2 . I drove about 20km from installation place and I could felt a difference in adding the Apr dp to stage 1 but real difference was after installing stage 2 tune . Today I did another 30km back and forth to work but because of heavy traffic I couldn't really floor it not even once . Sometimes next week I should receive the roc euro intake and after installing that I will make a new video . Sound wise , my exhaust got so much louder! I will be probably looking at adding some resonators in the future , and cold start it is insane! The burbs are now completely gone :(

One question cooling related : In lap mode I noticed engine temp -oil- stays in between 98-104 Celsius for normal driving . Unfortunately I did not paid attention at what temp used to be with stage 1 and I think 104 it is a bit to high ? The regular temp indicator stays the same as before at 90C -water-. Outside temp was around 10C . Is this 98-104 Celsius normal oil temp for this engine ?
