Suspension height significantly increased after dealer repairs

Thought I would get some feedback here before contacting the dealer about this

Car was lowered with links, sits at less than 1 finger gap when in dynamic mode (about 27" from ground to center of wheel well)

Car was in for some significant repairs last week, including replacing both motor mounts which required dropping the sub-frame. They said they had a very hard time getting it aligned afterwards, had to keep the car an extra day because of it. I left the lowering links on the car for the repairs, did not think it was worth removing them and nor did I mention the links when they said they were having a hard time getting back into alignment specs, but I did think that maybe the lower ride height from the links was part of the issue. I assume it works the same as regular spring over coil, where without adjustable camber a lowered car may not be able to be put back into spec.

I was out of town when the repairs were complete, so they just delivered it my home and the wife was there to swap them back the loaner

Noticed it right away when I got back in town that the car was super high. A good 3"-4" higher than before. Checked to be sure it was not in tow or tire change mode and that it was not in the "raise" mode. The raise mode still works, just takes it even higher. No suspension error lights or anything. Car does not seem to lower when putting it in dynamic. Have put about 30 miles on it and still the same super high ride height

    Couple of my guesses:
    - They put it into some special suspension mode for the work they needed to do and forgot to take it out
    - The automatic height calibration is just way off, possibly because of the links, and them needing to drop the sub-frame
    - They increased the ride height via VAGCOM because they were confused why it was so low and did not notice the links (very doubtful)
    - They noticed and adjustment my links in-order to get the camber back into spec (very very very doubtful)

I will, just thought I would see what I could find out before I gave them a call. Mostly just seeing if there is some implication with the links somebody might be aware of and if I should be the stock ones back on before I address this with the dealer

Measure the stock links and compare to the aftermarket ones?

If they reset the suspension then the car may see the ajustested links as the base line setting and raise the at to its original height from that baseline. If they did the only way to rerun them is to put original links on and then reset suspeion and input original figures then put links bank on.

I would just run through the VAG-COM process that is used for lowering to have it re-calibrate. This fixed some issues I had that was causing an error to be thrown after installing lowering links.

    Thanks for that tip.

This process is something you are familiar with? I don't have a VAG-COM, but meaning to get one and this would be the last reason I need to go ahead and get it

Without knowing what this recalibrate process is exactly, my thought would be to put the stock links back on, recalibrate and then re-install the lowering links?

    Thanks!

You could do that but in my case I just did it with the new links on. It also will be a good time to collect the default levels that are stored. If you were local to Houston, I would help you out with it. Just be sure to follow the instructions closely. You might try and do some other vag-com mods first prior to attempting this one to get use to the interface.

got my ross-tech cable in and went through the procedure you link to and work perfectly! My stored values before I changed them were in the 360ish range, which seems 20-25 lower than what most people start with, which is great becuase I think it means my links are still factored in the equation equation. I was worried I would only be able to lower it 17mm or so but before all this happened I had a lot more than 17mm drop with just the links. But I just lowered it 17 for now to make sure it works, going to go back and do another 10-15.

happy I could get this resolved without taking back to the dealer
