Thought I would get some feedback here before contacting the dealer about this
Car was lowered with links, sits at less than 1 finger gap when in dynamic mode (about 27" from ground to center of wheel well)
Car was in for some significant repairs last week, including replacing both motor mounts which required dropping the sub-frame. They said they had a very hard time getting it aligned afterwards, had to keep the car an extra day because of it. I left the lowering links on the car for the repairs, did not think it was worth removing them and nor did I mention the links when they said they were having a hard time getting back into alignment specs, but I did think that maybe the lower ride height from the links was part of the issue. I assume it works the same as regular spring over coil, where without adjustable camber a lowered car may not be able to be put back into spec.
I was out of town when the repairs were complete, so they just delivered it my home and the wife was there to swap them back the loaner
Noticed it right away when I got back in town that the car was super high. A good 3"-4" higher than before. Checked to be sure it was not in tow or tire change mode and that it was not in the "raise" mode. The raise mode still works, just takes it even higher. No suspension error lights or anything. Car does not seem to lower when putting it in dynamic. Have put about 30 miles on it and still the same super high ride height
Couple of my guesses:
- They put it into some special suspension mode for the work they needed to do and forgot to take it out
- The automatic height calibration is just way off, possibly because of the links, and them needing to drop the sub-frame
- They increased the ride height via VAGCOM because they were confused why it was so low and did not notice the links (very doubtful)
- They noticed and adjustment my links in-order to get the camber back into spec (very very very doubtful)
