    Audi A4 B6 3.0 Quattro 5-spped auto to 6-speed auto swap

Hello Guys, I had a short question for all of you.

Is it possible to swap a 6 speed automatic transmission, that came of a 2.7T into my 3.0 Quattro that only had a 5 speed automatic. I couldn't find any info on this particularly and I was wondering if it would be worth it or even fit.

I do a lot of Highway driving and I noticed that my RPMs are quite high, resulting in bad fuel economy obviously.

Forum Member @Heckas would provide me with the transmission and TCU.

    Thanks for your Help!

its the same as any other b6 6 speed swap, and yes you can use the 01E I believe you need to swap the front output shafts and you need axles and a drive shaft from an 02 3.0 6MT also there is no TCU for a MT, you need to change the softcoding of the ecu, the abs, and the dash, run a wire for cruise control if you want that to work and some other odds and ends.
Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Okay great I just contacted him to ask him if he has the parts.

Maybe you can answer my second question though is the swap even worth it? What would some of the benefits truly be?

    -Edit-

So the donor car is an A6 so the axles and driveshaft are believed to be longer than form the A4.

Worth it? Yes. More fun to drive? Absolutely.

I junked the 5-speed tiptronic in my 2003 B6 3.0 Avant Quattro Sport as soon as I got it. I replaced it with a 6-speed 02X from a 2003 B6 Quattro Sport, which I purchased solely for parts. The procedure is the same if you use an 01E.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Edit: Oops! I just realised your opening post is referring to a 6-speed automatic, from a 2.7T. Is that a typographical error, and you mean a 6-speed manual? The automatic transmission from a 2.7T-engined car, B6 S4 or C5 A6 remains a 5-speed, the 6-speed was never offered.

oh I completely glanced over that as well, I was referring to the manual swap as well.

Yes I was provided with wrong information.... Makes sense that I didn't get any information on a 6 speed auto swap.

Anyways. Since my car is an automatic I will probably leave it at that, Thanks a lot for the info though.

You'd need some serious ECU and TCU coding to match those. But even if somehow possible, it's a lot of work for slightly different ratios, minor increase in MPG, if any. But if you can grab a hold of a 6 speed MT, I completely agree with Nollywood that it would be worth it and more fun to drive.
