Angry My 2010 Avant was stolen! How to get fair value on claim?

A couple days I found out a car I hunted high and low for several years back, my 2010 A6 Avant, was stolen right out of my driveway. I'm not here to tell a sob story, but I am little worried about how insurance will value that car.

It's a 2010 A6 Avant Prestige in Aventurin Blue Pearl / Amaretto interior, 85K miles. It also had the GIAC Stage 1 tune on it, but no other mods.

For dealer prices, Edmunds TMV says $17.5 (LOL) and KBB says $18-22.5 (maybe closer to reality). Plenty of A6 3.0Ts on the market in the $20-22 range, so at least that's close. Here's the rub, though -- Nobody has them for sale. Looking across the entire USA, I've only found ONE A6 Avant anywhere in the 2009-2011 model year range, and that dealer has a $34K sticker on it. Obviously, that's too high -- But where is the truth?

Anybody dealt with this before? Assuming my car is long gone, what would should I be looking for from the insurance company?

You can certainly negotiate with the insurance company when it comes to value. I would certainly use that one listing as a starting point. My wife's car got hit an totalled a few months back, and when I spoke with the insurance company, they said they do not use anything like Edmunds, KBB, etc. to value cars. They look at what it costs in your area to replace it. You may be surprise at what they offer you for it, since it's such a hard vehicle to replace.

EDIT: Sorry to hear about your car being stolen.

Holy shit. I just got a call from the cops and they found my car!

Now I guess I get to call the dealership and find out what it takes to re-key an Audi. Not looking forward to that price tag, that's for sure.

What will the status of your title be? I believe most theft vehicles lose their "clean" title status, even if recovered undamaged.

Never even considered that! I'll check it with the insurance, for sure. "Making me whole" means I have a clean title car when all is said & done, as far as I am concerned.

For the folks rubbernecking here, this is what the pile of crap looked like that the thieves had accumulated in just 3 days:

Second one is a question - What the hell did the thieves do to my bumper? They pried off this little plastic cover with a crowbar. But why? Where they looking for a tracking device or something?

I bet that's shit they cleared from other cars they broken into. Center consoles and what not.

    Crazy.

How did they steal it? If they towed it then they pried that cover off to put on the tow hook. Maybe that had one already and used it to pull it onto a tailor.

Glad you have it back. You definitely need a camera! I have one and was able to record my dad's friend hitting my car. He called her and asked her if she hit my car and she said no (She didn't know about the camera). Then he told her about the camera and she was speechless lol.

The thieves had (or have, still present tense I suppose) a key, was left in the car by accident. Definitely wasn't towed away.

Any other ideas for what they were looking for?
