S3 Drive Select and Exhaust Valves

I have a 2016 S3 P+ and recently did the resonator delete. The day I got the car I coded the exhaust flaps off and now am considering turning them on to quiet it down when I'm using the car to go to clients. My question is if I set my individual setting to dynamic engine sound will that make the flaps stay open always or will it be the same situation where they only open up over 3k? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have the exact answer to your question, but if you want to be able to open and close the flap anytime you want you could always get one of these: http://www.awe-tuning.com/switchpath-exhaust-remote

That's a good idea! I feel like the engine sound adjustment is just changing the soundaktor, but I'm not entirely sure. I love how my exhaust sounds but I'm not sure how other nerdy accountants will like it when we're going to clients

When I had the coding done by a local guy, what I understood was: by changing that byte, I had caused the S3's system think there were no longer valves to open or close.

Why don't you just change the Drive Select mode and rev it up? I'm sure you'd hear a difference if you kept it under 3k RPM.

From what I've read, engine sound has absolutely no affect on the valves - it only controls the soundaktor. It's not even clear to me if dynamic engine mode affects the valves - they may only operate based off RPM and engine load.

The valves will only open above 3k even in dynamic, the only reason why people even need to do the VCDS mod or otherwise can just go dynamic. And yes, it does affect the exhaust sound, soundkator is a total different can of worm.. Soundkator only generates sound that can be heard inside the cabin, exhaust valve, you can hear/see the difference inside and outside of the cabin.. "See" as in even carbon build up evenly on all 4 pipes instead of just the inner 2...

Is there a plug that can be disconnected on the exhaust flap/valves to try them out open all the time? I am just curious as to how much different it is than stock valve operation.

Yup, you can disconnect them but then it will throw an error code, not a big deal though. It's nothing major, just a bit more bass at low rpm, just YouTube for it.

Code out the soundaktor before you change the exhaust flaps. That thing makes everything worse than it really is.
