    Unhappy Car Vandalized

    Hey AZ,

I hope you guys are having a better weekend than I am. Came out to my car today to find this.

. I park downtown in a covered garage where there's 24/7 security so I'm hoping they have something on camera. Has anyone ever filed an insurance claim for this sort of stuff? I'm wondering if it's even worth it.

There are some deep scratch marks past the clear coat where it looks like they were prying with a key or sharp object.

Maybe I will try to pick up some updated tails to make me feel better.

    -Tom

I have filed a claim on similar issue. And its definately not worth it. Claims supposedly stay on record for 3years. I guess it might depend on insurance company. I'd just come out of pocket for new rings.

I feel sorry for you. Is it in LA?
It's worth it if you file an insurance claim since you have to repaint the trunk lid.
Also, it's time to switch to a black Audi badge

    ^^ What he said.

I would take it to a good body shop or detail shop and see what they think before filing an insurance claim. You might get lucky with a less expensive repair and not take the insurance ding. Good luck.

Yep. Its was either some punk kids with nothing better to do or some crackhead trying to make quick buck. I'm more concerned with the paint damage vs the actual badge.

I've never seen that. Damn. Sorry man. I would do what someone said above and hit a good detailed and some touch up. Then order a new black badge. Not sure it would be worth the claim...good luck!

I had my S5 emblem swiped when I was parked at the airport for just a few minutes. It definitely wasn't worth a claim in my case. The world is full of assholes.

WTF, who in their right mind would pinch a plastic Audi badge?

Wait that implies they have a brain to house a mind.

Don't bother with insurance, hopefully with a good polishing machine and a new badge, a body shop will have it looking like new for for $100 or less.

Yeah, people suck. I've had two vandalism claims on my RS5. First one some dickhead kicked in my quarter panel and the second one was most likely some kid scratching the rocker panel with a small stone. Vandalism claims fall under comprehensive, so they shouldn't ding you in any way. Whether it's worth filing a claim depends on your deductible.

I know. Some people just have no respect for other people's property. Unbelievable.

+1. I'm so sick of all the crazies down here.

So I cleaned it up the best I could with some Goo Gone. I still need to hit it with a couple passes with my PC. Already ordered a replacement badge from the dealer for $81 but I will probably wait a few to slap it back on...

It doesn't look half bad debagded lol
