Clunky rattling noise; any ideas what it is?

I posted in one of the rear sway bar threads about this same noise and had found out I'd stripped the hole in the lower control arm. I ended up having the control arm replaced rather than try to re-thread to the next bigger size. I moved the sway bar to the inner hole after reading a couple of posts. The problem is I'm still hearing the noise. It doesn't happen at highway speeds but if I'm driving 50 mph or below and I hit a bump or uneven stretch of pavement I hear the clunk/rattle sound coming from what seems like the rear axle area. I've checked to make sure the end links and bolts aren't loose and I reconnected the bolts for mufflers so I'm at a loss for what it could be. Anybody have any ideas what it could be?

Hit the same bumps while lightly applying the brakes if it changes or goes away I would think it could be pads rattling in the caliper. Are the wheel bearings tight.

I'm getting some noise from mine, but I'm using the 034 end-links too.
No more than I expected, though, after removing the rubber bushings of the stock ones.
If you're using the stock end-links, you might want to double-check those and make sure they haven't disintegrated.

I've got the 034 end links, too, but I wasn't expecting the kind of clunking; gets annoying hitting every bump and hearing that noise!

Probably not the case, but the rear bumper on my wife's SQ5 had the cross brace broken and was creaking and clunking through all types of turns and speeds. Got the bumper replaced and all is good now. Just throwing it out there...can see if this is the case if you rear bumper looks out of line with the rear panels.

I had similar noise and posted in the 034 rear sway bar thread.
For me it turned out to be loose bolts on the mounting brackets. It came so loose The silver bracket fell off, but I managed to retrieve it, used locktite on the replacement bolts and no issues since. My clunking also stopped.

I would go under the car and just pull and wiggle the sway bar and make sure there's no extra movement by the endlinks as well. I had to re-tighten my driver side top endlink bolt since I heard a little clunk when wiggling it back and forth. It's a pain to torque those bolts down, but it was the culprit for me!
