    Oil on spark plug, thoughts?

    Hi Audizine,

I'm in the process of pulling the 2.7T from my A6 to put into my A4. As part of the prep work I pulled the coil packs and did a compression test.

When I pulled the #3 coil I noticed oil on the spark plug end. When the spark plug came out it also had oil on the top, but the business end still looked clean. All other coils were dry. The compression test showed 160's on 5 of the cylinders and 200 on #3.

    Any thoughts?

I'll have the engine out and on a stand before it goes in the B6 so I have a chance to tear into it, I'm just hoping I don't have to do a full rebuild yet (hoping to leave that for a future project ).

    Thanks!
    My stable: Q5 3.0T (daily driver), A4 B6 1.8T Avant (2.7t swap project)

Is the valve cover leaking near that cool assembly? Perhaps the oil got past the coil seal?
I'm not that familiar with the 2.7.

Thanks for the suggestion SimbadCA. I'll be pulling the engine this weekend and will get a closer look.

Did you find the source of the problem?
