Ok everyone, I know I am not the only one on here running Jhm's Y Downpipe, an just looking for a little help. I have full exhaust setup, 3" catless tp- jhm Y dp- b6s4 exhaust. On the dp, right before it Y's out . I am getting chatter from if being up against what I think is trans/differential mount(?), from it resonating. Just wondered if anyone also had this issue, Anybody with tips or fixes. Please Share, Other than chatter I love this exhaust.
Included link to pic with mount I am trying to explain..https://www.google.com/search?biw=36...3dA38XvoCbM%3A

From what I've seen people cut the transmission mount lol.

Also jhm says that there is a certain order to tighten the bolts and it helps it to settle lower to clear it, I'm sure Jake will chime in or you can ask him, or look for the thread about this from like two weeks ago, go looking thread by thread and you'll see it

This might help. http://http://www.audizine.com/forum...n-JHM-downpipe There is another thread about this but you can search for that one.

It's funny. Not many people mentioned the fitment issue until recently.

Found that other similar issue thread. I have newish 034 MM that were installed in summer an, the actual DP is not touching it constantly but again it does resonate against it when I'm not giving it throttle or lower rpms in higher gear. it. That is when it is touching it. . Hoping Jake will chime in.

Did you install the 2 spacers that go on the middle mount? Just did my jhm exhaust with no chatter.

Spacers helped eliminate chatter on that middle mount, but I had to get my test pipe modified so that the downpipe wouldn't hit that transmission piece. I didn't want to cut up the jhm downpipe

I had the same issue the spacers helped but under hard acceleration it would touch so I ended up cutting and adding a cup to it now I have no issues at all with it.

Middle mount is not the issue. Just like Deathblow said, Under hard accel there is rubbing an chatter. Also, No I don't have or know what spacers you are referring too..?

What TP are you using? Did you install the exhaust hanger spacer?

Hey Jake, can you put a photo up of the spacer? I don't believe I got one with my purchase. Having the same issues except I removed the bar until I can fix the issue.

I run the JHM TP and Downpipe with the FI B6 S4 exhaust they sell as well. Mine fit like a glove and frankly, much better than my previous Stasis exhaust did. There have been a few reports of the down pipe rattling against the lower transmission support brace but mine clears it fine and through he center of the cutout for it.

Just remember, not every car is in the exact same alignment and there are plenty of variables that dictate where the DP will pass before it is even bolted up to the DP/Cat. Not directly related, but to drive home the point. I have removed my engine twice and it never goes back in the exact same place each time. Most sub frames are not perfectly centered. I had to adjust my rear subframe since it was poking +1cm to the passenger side when I first lowered my car. You may have to loose and resettle the motor mounts or adjust the mid exhaust hangers to help recenter the downpipe. Just my 0.02, maybe it will help someone.

^^^^^I think what also helps is that he ed everything JHM from the ST3 BT to the tailpipe. When you mix and match parts from different manufacturers that mite have slight tolerances differentials. JHM probably uses the jig template tolerances closer to their own in house products

Do people replace the rubber exhaust hangers? I would imagine those stretch out after 10 years or so (the age of our cars) and drop the exhaust lower than it is fresh from the factory. Also when they loosen up the exhaust has more wiggle room and will shake around more, potentially hitting the crossmember things.

Yes and No. 034 mounts (motor and trans), Audiup Snub. Did help to be able to adjust from front to back though.
I will say that even with the Stasis and 034 HFC, the down pipe hung uncomfortably low and took some his on high speed bumps. Same Stasis exhaust and only swapping the 034 HFC to the JHM TP, the Stasis down pipe tucked up much like the same position with the OEM Cat leading me to believe the JHM TP truer to form than the 034 HFC was. Different companies, different jigs and tolerances.

Beyond that, we are an aging platform with fatiguable mounts and hangers that will affect the position of what it is mounting and hanging. There is always a certain amount of "fanegaling" to get things to come together. I would recommend to loosed all the mounts points (motor mounts, hangers, ssleeve joints and flanges, tuck in some spacers around the downpipe from the trans brace and then sequentially tighten up all the mounts from front to back, adjusting as needed as you tighten and I bet you will find it in a new improved position. I would never recommend grinding that trans brace as one of the other members did in another thread.

my rear rubber hangers were badly stretched out when i got the car, so they were about 10 years old assuming they were original. i didnt notice right away, but wow what a better look with new rubber hangers. tips fit up nice and tight.
