    Takata Airbag Status?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone received and new information regarding the Takata airbag.

I'm reading this letter and it says Audi will contact when they have a solution. In the meantime, try to keep the passenger seat empty. Are they serious?

It's like diminished value for our cars and renders them unsafe, IMO.

No recourse for us as I've been reading.

    Thoughts?

Same here. No big deal for me. I'll wait until they have the parts to do the recall. I have two other cars passengers can ride in.

I agree it's unsettling. However, from what I've heard it was only in vehicles that had been in really warm climates... not really reassuring for you there in So Cal. Ha but regardless, I agree - there should be some expeditious efforts here to get them to us asap.

Recieved my AoA airbag letter in the mail a couple weeks ago.
Called and made an appointment and taking her in today for a new one. They said it's going to take 3 hours? Didn't ask about a loaner. Didn't need one.
    Finally getting that headache done.

3 hours seems like a long time since they only took an hour to put mine in, at least it's a free service. They better give your car a courtesy wash.

I called a few dealers and went to the one (Audi Pacific) that could do it while I wait. Several said they needed the car for 8 hours. The job took 45 min max. And I 100% denied the courtesy wash. If you like your paint, never let ANYONE, except a legit detailer touch your car.

Unless you like spending hours getting swirl marks out of your paint, best avoid the "courtesy wash". They'll do more harm then good to your paint.

When I had my B7 A4, the dealer scratched rear quarter panel but i didn't notice it till the next day...

Nope, but I worked at a dealership all throughout HS and saw first hand the kind of damage those machines and brushes do to a cars paint. Carry something similar to this now in my glove box for dealer visits:

To understand why you shouldn't let them wash your car, just watch how they wash other people's cars. Brushes, dirty mitts in dirty wash buckets used on car after dirty car all day long.

If your car is just an applicance, by all means, but if you are an enthusiast who cares about their car, and how it looks (This is the RS4 forum after all), then no wash please is what you should say at every service visit.

.....or the PO never took care of the paint and it's already ruined and needs a paint correction to be fixed(my car). I'm more talking from my own personal experience. I went in with a dirty car to get a the recall completed(only time my car will be at a dealership). When finished, it was clean and I asked if it was washed. They said they just sprayed it down, which is fine by me. I'm fully aware that the only people who should wash your car is either you or a detailer. I've only put my car through touch-less car washes or me washing it personally. Sorry for making a joke about the ridiculous time the dealer quoted dufferdude, didn't know it was a sensitive subject.

I had the recall taking care of a couple months back. The only time my car has ever been into the dealership. (By me that is) it will definitely be the very last time I ever go to Audi of Wilsonville, or any other Audi dealer if I can get away with it. It's interesting that when you go to a dealership full of a bunch of morons instead of enthusiast how they treat your car. It's even more amazing how they treat it when you're standing there watching them mess with your car.

I’m on the list with my local dealer. They told me when parts show up we get as many done as we can. I had 20 peeps ahead of me when I made the appointment. He said they get 3-4 parts, or sometimes a 1/2 pallet.

The worst part about the service experience was that the dealer did not fess up to the damage. I discovered it myself when I opened the glove compartment a few days later!
