    97 vs 95 tire rating

So I just came back from Discount Tire and was told that they couldn't mount my 225/45/R18 95H Blizzaks because they aren't allowed to per the load rating being not 97(OEM load rating) or 95XL. They mounted the same tires last year on my '06 Avant I had, which calls for the same requirements. Would it be a risk to just go somewhere else and get them mounted anyways? I'm not trying to cheap out or anything, but if it's not a safety issue, then I don't want to go through the process of selling these and looking for another set. The difference per tire load is 1521lbs vs 1609lbs. My wife usually drives the car and doesn't carry anything in the cargo hold except for a few bags of groceries here and there.

OP's question is about running 95, not 95XL.

Yeah XL 95's are fine. As ichi said, I'm referring to non-XL rated 95's. I think I'll be fine. We had them on last year. I think they rate tires with cargo and 5 adult passengers inside the vehicle, something we'll never have.

    97 vs 95 tire rating

The tires are not rated for the weight of the car. You are correct that the car is weighed with all fluids (full tank of gas), 5 average sized adults and some weight in the truck to simulate luggage.
Discount wont mount them because it exposes them to liability if they knowingly mount under rated tires and something goes wrong.
You may not have issues because you won't ever meet the weight, but you will have to find a tire shop that doesn't care about liability.

Oh I totally get that and if in there position, I'd say the same thing. It's just that I was taken back a bit when last year, the same shop mounted the tires onto the wheels for the same vehicle no problem(obviously someone wasn't paying attention then).
