Mag Ride Delete - need help from non-mag ride s3 owner

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello everyone,

So, as I'm going to be installing Air suspension in the spring and I really don't like error codes and don't think the KW resistors are the answer. I'm going to attack mag ride delete from a Vag Com angle. I read that it's been done on an R8 but unfortunately the member who did it passed away.

With that being said I need someone to scan their non-mag ride s3. I need this to compare to my mag ride scan, this should be extremely helpful when coding the ESP since that doesn't have its own module.

If your car is a 2015 s3 prestige non-mag ride that would be the most help, I believe mag ride is a part of the sport package or black optics and not prestige right?

My car is a 2015 prestige with mag ride.

Hopefully in a short time we can have an alternative to $399 resistors if we want to alter our suspension and won't have to trick our car.

I'm pretty novice with VCDS coding so any insight or help is appreciated, I'm a software engineer though so hopefully it's helpful.

Nice! I have no insight, but I would love a solid solution. I had a lot of fun this year running time attack and winning my AWD class, but I'm looking for some suspension improvements over the winter. After reading all the threads, I figured coilovers were out, but now you are giving me hope. Good luck!

Well, you can currently run resistors with coilovers but occasionally they'll still throw errors. Hopefully I can get some help along the way and thanks for the well wishes. There's no reason we should have to pay $400 for a trick

awesome that your going to try and tackle this!

I have some thoughts about why the KW kit falls short, but just haven't had time, motivation, or the security code, to mess around with it.

First off anyone able to figure out the code?

Here are some settings that could be tweaked, KW thinks its a ride height isssue, there are some adaption values here:

This is one I think might make the KW kit work:

I don't think it's a ride height issue since I can cause the code to get thrown without major suspension travel now. I've been guessing the dampers have a constantly changing signal (current, resistance, whatever...) and the KW kit just supplies a constant signal. The car is expecting a variable signal when the ride height changes and since the KW kit just gives a constant signal, the car thinks something is wrong. The above setting to "enable constant current" sounds very promising for the guys who already have the KW kit if my guess is right.

Of course if we can just disable mag-ride and throw the KW kit in the trash, even better.

I'd try out the constant current mode if someone could crack the security code.

You're probably onto something with the constant code but I don't have the KW kit hooked up, today I did however unplug mine and scan it to find the malfunctions so at least I know where to start. I'm hoping sometime soon I can find a scan of a non magride car.

A while back Alex from the UK forum has managed to sniff out the security codes for the MagRide module 14. They are 20103 and 24085.
You may wanna try these and see how it go. Am interested in the outcome as well.

Thanks that's actually what I found too. However I haven't been able to locate the ABS one, but I should be able to get into it using VCP

Those codes worked! As soon as I enabled constant current mode, the car threw a suspension code. oh well.

I was able to get in and get two malfunctions to go away. Had to throw the car back to stock and it's been a busy week. Hoping I get more time this weekend to do them.

I will accept every drop. Haha. But it's definitely time consuming, especially living in upstate NY with temps dropping, working full time and being a masters student and the S3 being my daily driver.

But I'm hoping to find an S3 I can scan that has no mag ride and I think that'll make it came.

Hey everyone, barely made any progress this weekend, it was busy. I'm free all next weekend and keeping the that way, as air suspension is going in my car soon I want to solve this.

Can anyone help me get a non mag ride VCDS scan?

Someone help this man. I am throwing coilovers on the car tomorrow. Hoping that is all that will be thrown. Also, giving that KW cancellation kit a crack.

I'm working with Roc Euro in Rochester too, asked him to scan out there. Working with my salesman now to test drive one coming in, but hesitant since it's a 2017 face lift. But what can it hurt? Haha

from what I gather the facelift version is mostly the custer upgrage, interior looks like seat color, and the outside body. suspension should not have been changed, but I could be wrong.

youll have to let us know what it shows.

I have a few Audi Techs looking into this for me. Hope to come back with good news. According to them, you may be able to simply turn off the module. They've done it on several Porsche's!

Mag Ride Delete - need help from non-mag ride s3 owner

Air suspension went in yesterday, I have the KW edc delete kit but I'm still getting the suspension error. I'm also getting Audi Light error, but I think that might be because the shop I regular got fancy and we used the OEM height sensors for the airlift height reading and just piggybacked off them.

Once we get the height sensors working properly I think I'm going to attack the problem another way. With the Mag ride disconnected I get about 15 codes, with the suspension errors with EDC delete in there's like four.

Based on some basic trouble shooting last night it looks like the EDC kit just lets it send a signal so something receives it, and then there's voltage return, it looks like the suspension triggers the code when the voltage isn't in between the correct range.

Originally I assumed the kit was actually just sending something back, and then I thought it might just trap the signal, but now I just think it's magnetic fluid that provides a current. I'm a computer geek not an electric geek so this could be wrong. But man, they sure get hot.

I'm pretty sure the range can be either eliminated or altered, so that might be an easier job.

Unfortunately the weather is crap here and I'm trying to still get a stock non-mag scan, in reality I only have about four hours a week I can put into working on this, and ~an hour of that is jacking the car up, unhooking and then reassembly.

On that note, has anyone seen the headlight sensor code, or just suspension?

I left my car at my local shop Roc Euro yesterday and last night the owner texted me and said he got most of my errors ironed out.

I'm hoping today to have more details and hopefully can share the solution. Him and I had been discussing coding them out, but there were some other options he had discussed too to solve these issues.

Old thread, I know. But I just did air on my 15 S3 and the codes from not having cancellers is intense.

Headlights is one of those codes. I have the full LED lights (US version) and there is a light that turns on to the left or right depending on which way you cut the wheels.

That doesn't work anymore - the lights don't kick on when I turn the wheel.

If you ever found a solution to this, would love to know. I'm installing the neuspeed version of the cancellers so we shall see tonight..
