Headlight sensor? Headlights won't adjust. Stay down

I've tried to search this and no luck.

When my headlights turn on at night, they'll go up and down and set how they used to, but after 1-2 minutes, they just stay down and shine 10feet or so in front of the car.

Anybody ran into this issue before or know what I can do?

Check your driver's side front and rear lower control arms to make sure the headlight level sensor is still attached. It looks something like the following...

You may need to adjust them manually then use a VAG-COM to confirm the settings.

I really hadn't noticed this on my car until recently with the days getting shorter, but my headlights don't seem to 'reach out' like they used too. I thought it may be related to the lowering. If that's the case, is the level sensor adjustable to compensate for the change in ride height?
    Thanks,\
    Ed

So I just checked it out. And on the rear the arm isn't connected to the other sensor part. It's like a ball bearing. I can't clip them back together for the life of me because there's not enough room to work. Any tips or tricks. Taking off anything to create space seems like such a hassle.

Did you jack it by the frame and allow the wheel to lower, or did you crawl in/use ramps where it stays more compressed. One position or the other may give the proper angle.

I used a ramp. I'll jack it up tonight and try that. Good call. I'll let you know how it goes.

Interesting - we both lowered our Avants around the same time with similar kits - I've never had to adjust to compensate for the drop.

You already know this but you did you try adjusting the headlights themselves? When I first bought the car it bugged the s* out of me because the beams weren't level - had to adjust the height of the beam to get an even look.

I lowered mine just about 1.2 inches and it didn't affect it until a couple weeks ago. I finally was able to plug it back in on the rear, had to take the wheel off to access it and it fixed my problem.

take off your wheel and jack up the car and you should have more than enough room to work

Yeah I just saw that. Funny the timing of that.

I took my wheel off and saw that on the rear the sensor was unclipped. So I put them back together and headlights work fine now. Thanks though!
