A local shop informed me that this item is what's causing a repetitive clunky noise when the car is put into drive or reverse. They said it would eventually need to be replaced but is it potentially covered on our extended transmission/drive train warranty? I have 56K miles.

What does the ADP have to do with the drive train? If yours is on the way out, I would think you would want to replace it before it fails.

My bad, not related to drive-train but did read somewhere about at TSB for it. Any info on that?

The shop wants $355 to replace. I find the part on Rockauto ranging from $80-115. Sounds like they are charging 2 hours labor.

Or they are charging more for the part, which is quite likely. The alternator may have to come out since space is a bit tight to get the two tools needed to release the pulley...one socket to hold the shaft and a second to release the pulley. Probably more than 1 but less than 2 hours.

Another shop just said 1 hour labor $100 plus about $90 for the part. Big difference. I had it there before and probably trust them better anyway.

Ya, that sounds reasonable. It's not a big job.
