B6 Reverse Lights - LEDs

Hey Everyone,

Thinking about getting some LEDs to make backing out a bit more easier / light up the road behind me more. Does anyone know if I need to pick up LEDs with resistors in them or not (for bulb-out warnings)?

I've seen some threads that say we do need resistors:

and others that say we do NOT.

What's the official word?

The reverse lamp bulbs are not monitored by the bulb failure module, so no resistors are required if replacing tungsten bulbs with LED's.

I just replaced my stock reverse bulbs with a set of LEDs from ECS. No trouble lights, they look amazing!

Guess I'll assume that for all B6.
I know at least for LED rear plate, some have the polarity reversed so you have to switch it.

Anyone have any links handy to the rear TURN SIGNAL (yellow-color) LEDs possibly?

eBay for cheap led lights. I have only got one bad set before on eBay and have used a lot of leds on apast vehicles which only cost a couple bucks anyways

I love my set from ECS. I've had them installed for almost a year, no problems at all. I'm 99℅ sure all LEDs went on sale at Christmas time last year, maybe the same will happen this year if you can hold out that long

I got these to copy as per Matt's recommendation, but they flicker 5 times upon Key-ON, which I'm told is normal:

All exterior leds will do this, it's the electric current loading up into the canbus resistors

I have the ECS projector LED's as well. Super bright, no issues.
