Sports diff owners, any noise on starting from stop

I get intermittent click noise from rear of car when starting from stop , first time in morning it is much louder, other times less noticeable . Car ar dealer now, tech heard noise, so I am not crazy. Have any one who have sport diff noticed the same noise. TIA.

Haven't heard it on mine. 2012 manual trans with sport diff.

Interim update 3 techs worked on car. Put car on lift at exactly 7 mph got same click noise. INSIDE CABIN. not from tranny or Sport diff. They are also working on anther s4 , put it up on lift at 7mph got same click. They will work on that car to find fix ,then do same to mine,which I have again. Scary when your baby is with some one else. Will keep you posted, but not drive train issue.They may call audi tech line or whatever it is to check out.

That's normal. It's the ABS system priming. It can also happen at other times depending on your driving style and if the car thinks you're being too aggressive.

Did Audi start putting these in late model B8.5 S4's? To my knowledge, they are restored to indicate if they crack or not, but not "active" in our cars.

That's what I was thinking, too. I can hear it/feel it in my brake/clutch pedal on the first pull away from the garage in the morning.

All B8 and B8.5 S4s have active motor mounts. Its just a solenoid valve that controls oil flow between the two rubber damping chambers (changes the mount stiffness).

Ummm, no. You have to move to the 6 series to get active motor mounts. Even then, I think it's just the V8 models that have it, but don't quote me on that aspect of it.

Ummm yes, my 2010 S4 3.0T has active motor mounts.....just as shown in the factory service manual.......

Remove the right front wheel housing liner.
Remove the noise insulation - 1 and 2 -.
Remove and disconnect the connector - 2 - on the Right Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve (N145) from the bracket.

from parts catalog it looks like 2010 does have electronic motor mount. And so does b 8.5 audi part number 8R0199381 AE (right ). Same number AD (left) Google shows photo with electrical connector
