    Failed check today . BITCHK!
Car is running great. BLACK smoke. ....not oil or coolant then. Unburnt fuel looks like the culprit I'm guessing from a quick read. Fuel pump problem? Going to pull fuel pump this wknd to check that and follower. Anyone seen this before? Had PCV already changed out by Audi on warranty. How do I check that....blow thru? I'm thinking it's fuel pump malfunction or PCV? YEA nay? Thoughts? ....thanks

Last smog I had was visual and OBD scan.

It is normal, to an extent to have a small puff of black smoke on WOT from out cars.

If it's indeed running rich as you say, it's not a pump problem. Could be an injector stuck open or your O2 sensor's shot (the one in front of the cat). A code scan will reveal more info regardless.

That being said, why the hell are they running your car WOT during a smog test? Go somewhere else that's ludicrous. Somewhere without an AWD dyno, where they'll just do a visual and check OBD codes.

Scan the car with Vag-com. Check codes. You can also log fueling with it as well. Running rich can be caused by a number of things.
