water pump shaft broke; now new issues

I have a 1998 audi a4 quattro 2.8 dohc with 167,000 miles. I was on my way home from work cruising on the freeway going about 75 and noticed my temp gauge had just crept above half way mark and then i lost all power. long story short towed it home and stripped it all the way down to the timing belt. The waterpump shaft had sheared i n half but was still in place holding timing belt.I also noticed the idler pulley for the timing was missing all its bearings and was basically held in place by just the bolt. replaced timing belt, water pump, idler pulley, tensioner pulley and hydraulic tensioner . made sure all my timing marks lined up and the motor turned over byhamd without anything binding up. When I went to start it up, turned over fine but just kinda sputtered. Held gas pedal down and tried again and it fired up but has severe top end noise, like the lifters arent oiled or somthing and wouldnt stay running unless i feathered the gas pedal. I didnt do that very long at all cause i know that could be causing some severe damage to the internals. Removed valve covers and turned motor over by hand to watch cams and they look fine and timing marks inside valve covers line up like they should. I did notice the camshaft chain tensioner on the passenger side head would lift up about 1/2 inch or so on every rotation of the cam. Driver side did not. I had a check engine light and pulled the codes as well. They were as follows :
    P1338
    P0300
    P0301
    P0303
    P0303
    P1392
So hope i gave enough info and backstory on my situation. I guess I'm looking on some advice on what my next step should be. I'm suspecting I have a bent valve or 2 and am in the process of taking heads off but trying to get any insight before I actually remove the heads.
Thank you in advance for any input. It'll be greatly appreciated

You can try checking compression. The values obviously won't be as high as they would be if the engine was warm, but it's still a useful diagnostic technique.
Also pull all the spark plugs prior to the test, and disconnect the fuel injectors. Also a good idea to pull the fuel pump fuse.
