Wheel Rubbing? What's the big deal?

I just put on a set of S5 peelers with 255/35/19 DWS06. I'm lowered on HR Oe and Bilstein B8 Sport shocks. I get slight rubbing when going over big dips or big bumps in the road...

What are the consequences of rubbing? I looked at my fender liners and they seem okay, the tire looks fine as well. My tire guy, said to keep tire shine on it as it would act as a lubricant.

What are some of the worst things that rubbing can do to your car?

Well I'll tell you this, for starters S5 peelers have a pretty aggressive poke on a B8/B8.5 S4, I know because tried em once and instantly removed. The other thing would be that there is this nipple towards the back of the inner fender that you'll need to grind down. I wish I had pictures, but I had to do it for both my B8 and now my B8.5. It GREATLY lowered the rubbing on my setup. I'll do my best to try and shoot a picture to give you an idea!

Agreed, there is a little metal nipple/nub on the inside of the rear fender, just above where the bumper meets the fender. Run your finger along there and you will feel it. I have not ground mine down yet and I get rubbing on the rear passenger side over large bumps/dips. There is a light scuff mark around the shoulder of the tire (transition from the sidewall to the tread), but no evidence of slicing into the tire.

Interestingly, over the summer I had a set of Michelin PSS 255/35-19 (same size as the Continentals) on 19x8.5 wheels at +33 offset, and the rubbing at the rear passenger side was much more severe and frequent, and the little nub on the inner fender actually produced minor striations/slices into the very edge of the tread. Even though I was using the same size tire at the same offset, the Mich. PSS are a more square shape than the Conti DWS so the interference with the fender was more severe.

Take a look at where the scuff mark is on the tire. I bet that if you dial in a bit more negative camber on whichever wheel is rubbing (and I'll bet it's the rear passenger side), it should eliminate the problem.
