It GREATLY lowered the rubbing on my setup. I'll do my best to try and shoot a picture to give you an idea!
Agreed, there is a little metal nipple/nub on the inside of the rear fender, just above where the bumper meets the fender. Run your finger along there and you will feel it. I have not ground mine down yet and I get rubbing on the rear passenger side over large bumps/dips. There is a light scuff mark around the shoulder of the tire (transition from the sidewall to the tread), but no evidence of slicing into the tire.
Interestingly, over the summer I had a set of Michelin PSS 255/35-19 (same size as the Continentals) on 19x8.5 wheels at +33 offset, and the rubbing at the rear passenger side was much more severe and frequent, and the little nub on the inner fender actually produced minor striations/slices into the very edge of the tread. Even though I was using the same size tire at the same offset, the Mich. PSS are a more square shape than the Conti DWS so the interference with the fender was more severe.
Take a look at where the scuff mark is on the tire. I bet that if you dial in a bit more negative camber on whichever wheel is rubbing (and I'll bet it's the rear passenger side), it should eliminate the problem.
