    Track-worthy Coilover Setup?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Im still not satisfied with my suspension setup. Ive tried coilovers by ST, a b8 suspension setup with neuspeed race springs. The st setup was too soft and poor adjustability as they didnt go too high in the rear for the winter. The neuspeed still has body roll in the corners and a little too bouncy for what it is. Now i know that if i dont want a bouncy ride i should probably stick with an oem setup, but i like to take my corners aggresively and will be tracking the car eventually.

So far ive looked into the stasis ohlins challenge suspension and it looks good but I cant find it anywhere. Are there any other alternatives with linear rate springs besides pss10's?

I need something the offers good adjustability. Ive also looked at kw v3 which seems to be popular.

I would probably go KW V3s myself. I don't personally need anything track worthy, so my KW V1s are just fine.

You won't find the Stasis setup new anymore since Stasis went tits up, but I've seen used sets here and there.

Try higher end coilovers like Bilstein PSS9 or what aluthman said.

Never heard of the PSS10 for b7 application.

Be sure to get the right suspension for your car specific to AWD vs FWD, 2.0T vs 4.2, etc...

Get a stiffer front and especially rear sway bars. That will help a lot with body roll and cornering. The b7 stock sway bars are weak. Most guys here pick up the rs4 sway bars for a well worth cheap upgrade. For tracking I would personally with go stiffer H&R or Hotchkis or 034

The Stasis Ohlins and Ohlins Motorsports are still up at the top. YOu can pick up a set for pretty reasonable price, and they are fully rebuildable. PSI in California rebuilds them and even provides dyno sheets for before/after rebuild performance. Used sets come up from time to time.

That said, the KW V3 and Bilstein PSS9 and 10 are both very capable contenders. But not on the level of the Ohlins.

If you're baller, go with the Ohlins TTX, probably the best available out of the box. Be prepared to spend lots of $$$ though.

I have KW V2's on my Avant with Hotchkiss sway bars. It handles quite nicely. If you are really looking for a track setup though you are going to need to spend some money. KW V3 as Aluthman mentioned or Bilsteins PSS10 mentioned by Sanjman would be decent choices with the sway bars of course. Ohlins if you can find them are unbeatable. Adjustable control arms and links will allow you to dial in camber and what not. Suspension is where you need to spend your money if you are serious about going to the track.

Just an FYI camber kits like the adjustable control arms aren't enough to fully dial in camber on most lowered b7s. They simply don't have the clearance to adjust it to get the optimal camber. They help but not enough to get the calibration all in green during alignment

I haven't tracked mine yet, but koni coilovers, rs4 rear bar, 034 sway bar links all around. It's ridgid, very tight steering (s4 rack and I believe the 628 relay will lower the ratio not sure if true but that's the number off the rs4 rack relay). I think mine will handle the track very well.

I have PSS9's on my Avant, and on my P car. They are not a track coilover, they are a street coilover that does OK on the track. Ohlins or KW V3 are track stuff.

I have a set if Stasis Öhlins Challenge coilovers and love them for street use. They'll be seeing limited track days next year and I suspect they'll do the job. They are rebuildable, and highly capable.

What are your guy's thoughts on BC Racing coilovers with custom rate Swift springs? I'd love to have Ohlins, but for the price of those I think I'll buy a few more B5s instead...
