2005 A4 B6 differences from VIN 400001+

Hi all - I'm looking for a control arm kit and it appears that there are endless threads and options out there.

It looks like my A4 is a late production model (i.e. vin ending with A048932) so the control arm kits have what appears to be fewer options.

What are the differences in these kits "Thru 12/04; VIN 8E.5.400 000" and "after Chassis 400001"?

Anybody know of other significant differences throughout the car?

I also have a late model B6 (2005) which made getting the correct parts very difficult; shops assumed it was a B7 because my car is 2005. My situation was further compounded by my factory s-line suspension. Lesson learned was to use your VIN number when ordering parts.

Lastly, if you do it yourself check to see if your front lower front control arm has this conical shim.



I received incorrect arms that didn't fit into the knuckle either w/ the shin or without it. Had to take shim to shop and fit it onto control arm to make sure I purchased the correct arm.

you are early VIN since its 048932 which is B6 after 400000 is B7 2005.5

I was led to believe this was a "late VIN" because of a previously purchased timing belt kit for it. Must be for only the belt kit.
