    End of lease advice?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi guys,

Just foolishly purchased my dream car with 8 months left on my S4 lease. I could comfortably afford to keep both cars and continue to drive the S4 but I don't really need both. I am under mileage on the S4 (<16k miles and I leased it at 15k/yr).

I was planning on buying the S4 at lease end but don't need it now. My payoff is just under $38k.

What would you do in my shoes? Private sale? Carmax? Terminate lease early (prob not a good option w Audi) ?

I would love for it to go to an enthusiast given the care I have taken of it (washed every month, waxed every month, back seat used 3 times total, never used launch control, garage parked at work and home, all maintenance by Audi). Heck I even sit on a towel if I wear jeans to avoid scratching the seat. Never modded and never in any kind of accident.

It's a 2014 in Estoril blue with black Nappa leather seats, sport diff, tech package, blind spot monitoring, layered aluminum wood trim, Audicare, and 19" peelers. Love that combo.

    Cheers,
    EBS4

You may already know this, but it'll just come down to the numbers game. I'm pretty sure you can do any of the options listed (however, I'm not sure how to go about selling a leased car as I've never done it.) In the end, it will end up costing you something. The highest cost should be keeping the car for the remainder of the lease (current payments x 8 mo.). The rest depends on the level of effort you want to put toward what cost savings.

Best of luck. I would love to be in a s3 or s4 some day.

I had a lease on a Mazda but I couldnt stand driving it for another year so I got my payoff amount and found a dealership that would give me as close as possible to that number ($500 less), I got that offer on paper and then I found the Audi I wanted at a different dealer and got them to match that offer. Its a bit too late for you to do that but I'd say see if you can sell it to a dealer like Carmax or an Audi shop for close or equal to your lease payoff...

    Pictures of the dream car?

I traded in my '15 Prestige S4 with 13k miles and had to fight for $40k, so a dealer probably won't give you more than $36k.

I might be interested in buying it if, but only if it is a 6 MT. But you would probably have to buy it from AFS /VW credit first. Alternatively, you can sell it to CarMax . But you need to do this prior to 6 month remaining in lease or they will want a buyer(other than yourself ) to pay retail price for it. Before 6 months left, a dealer can buy it for the payoff price. BTW, you can just trade the car in as well.

Dr. GP I would love to sell the car to you as you are a great guy and a doc as well...but unfortunately it's a DSG.

The Fat Kid: You're gonna laugh...I bought a 911S (991.1). Was looking for a good 991 for months, searching nationally. We have very few manual transmission models here in the Hampton Roads area...when a 2012 991S with 7MT and silver/black color combo came up I couldn't resist. Figured it might be 2 years before I see another locally (especially one in good cosmetic condition with only 10k miles). Let's hope it ends up being a good decision! As an aside the dealer parked the car in that handicapped spot (I would never do such a thing!).

    Awesome haha! CPO? Options?

I brought my son to the park this afternoon, and then took "the long way" home

Not a CPO. I bought a 6yr 60k warranty from Zurich (hope it's decent). Car has sport PASM, sport chrono, PSE, Bose, premium pkg, ventilated seats, seat crests, and headlight washers in the platinum silver. Since it's a 2012.5 it has a slightly older PCM that doesn't get text messages or online data and there is no rev matching. Only option I wish I had was parking sensors. Well those and all the others

We have pretty similar cars I don't have parking sensors, but the previous owner installed a rear camera in my car, thankfully. I almost clipped a couple parked cars when I first got it since I was accustomed to the parking sensors in the S4

Try to get leather interior on your next 911; it is so nice.

Rennlist classifieds are great if you are looking for parts/accessories. Suncoast occasionally has crazy deals on basically new take-off parts.

Thanks for the info, 6MTs are hard to find. Not sure I would want the Alcantera with dogs. Not unhappy with current car (2011), but could definitely upgrade if the right car became available.
