TT-RS Style Grille Thread

Looks like there are already a few different variants of it.

My rep came through from overseas and sent one. Gloss black w/ no Quattro logo on the bottom.

Anyone take the bumper off yet?

I won't be running the TT-RS emblem of course. Doesn't really have a good way to fit a proper emblem on it. Sure I could figure something out, but rather just run nothing on the front. Hope that the lack of a center portion will allow for better air flow.

Are you running hot in the summers? on the track? I have been looking at the grills they run in the motorsport division, they have less "holes" in the grill but assume that is for aero, and cooling is achieve via the hood venturi scoop. I installed the RS grill on my Avant, it became a giant maw, that really service no purpose, the car wasn't over heating but it sure looks good. I want to try the motorsport version but think that will require some additional venting: Naca Vents in the belly pan? Seal up the trans tunnel?

How much was the RS grill?

I saw that the LMS RS3 has like no holes but the scoop.

I got it for free. =) It was my Christmas gift from my rep. I bet at cost I would get it below 200 plus shipping. Educated guess.

Not really running hot and I think the focus should be on oil cooling more?

200, seems about right for a grill, nice score.

Does anyone have an idea on what temps the oil should be?

I have seen mine at the track get as high as 260? IIRC., but typically 220 to 240 when its warm and I am pushing; We had a 95 degree plus, one event, when I thought I saw that high number.

It does seem a bit too much open space, did you paint the aluminum bumper black? or is that the FMIC?

I got lazy and used black vinyl to cover the crash bar. It's a little chilly to paint anyways.

Had to modify the front parking sensor brackets.

Yeah pretty much. There's no way you're unclipping the existing grille with it mounted

Are you looking for OE or aftermarket? For OE parts I usually go to jimellisaudiparts.com . Can't beat their prices and the website is easy to navigate with large exploded views.

Is it just me....or the black stock one looks better?

Suits the car better, just my opinion.

Kinda looks "unfinished" with the RS grilled.

RS grilled looks amazing on the S4 tho.
