    Ds1 with RS7 = paper weight

So I started yesterday and hooked up my Btres. Then I tried to do my SRM tcu tune. I was having problems with the program so I emailed them and decided to move on and do tcu tune Monday. So I already had charge on car at this point so I tried to hook up everything. I flashed stage 1 and got a bunch of codes and it wouldnt sync with the btres screen. So I emailed ds1 they called back and I drove it and it was fine just had 3 or 4 codes. He said let it charge overnight amd reflash stage 1 tomorrow. So I do I go out there today and fire it up it starts. So i reflash it and now it wont start. Wouldn't even attempt a start. So i reflashed back to stock and still nonstart but now it wont recognize the fucking keys. So I back out shut down let it chill for 30 minutes and go back out there it turns the ignition on but still no start. So now I reflash stage 1 amd still nothing. Says it has no codes but then pops up 2 codes after I clear them but still wont start. Any advice been tuning for 25yrs with HP tuners, sniper, motec etc and never seen this before.

    How old is your battery?

My 2 cents, you may need a new battery.

Is it possible that as 09S5 wrote, there is something wrong with the battery that even an overnight charge did not correct? Some of the electronics on these cars seem very sensitive to small variations in voltage. There are several AZ threads from folk who had various problems with flashing that were resolved with a new battery.

Does your dongle flash certain color lights? Take Screen shots of your browser and email DS1 support. You’ll likely find their support is much faster to respond than writing a post here.

We would all be guessing without being there and seeing what you see, exactly why DS asks for them.

^ Always rule out battery first - people have seen a drop of .8v (11.8->11v) cause flashing issues. Then into connectivity issues with DS1

Can confirm, had a tune on my Tundra that would NOT allow you to continue without a full battery voltage that it checked (I imagine that check was put in after people had issues at some point).

All tunes require a good battery charge this isn't specific to the DS1. Get a battery charger before you tune it you'll be fine.

Audi’s are very sensitive to drop in voltage due to a weakening battery. Issues flashing are quite rare; weak battery, but most cases are user error. There have been extremely low numbers of cases where it’s hardware related.

In any case, you won’t find a better support staff to iron out the issue as quickly as possible.

You get it working? What was the issue?

My tuner always hooks car battery up to a charger when doing tune adjustments. At a minimum, hook up a fully charged boost pack.

Yeah not to pour salt on a wound but it seems to me no one should ever try flashing a car without it being hooked to shore power. I always have mine on a battery charger/tender when doing any kind of flashing/coding.

So here's a question: Assume the battery is pretty weak and needs several hours of charge at 2A to reach full charge. Would attaching the 2A charger and immediately flashing always work, or would a safer procedure be to charge overnight just in case, then flash in the morning with charger still attached?

It almost sounds like that’s what the OP tried. DS said let it charge overnight and then flash, which he did. The one aspect I don’t know: did he leave it tendered while flashing?

Based on the fact he hasn’t come back to respond, I can only assume he’s good to go… really just want to know what the issue was and if it was user error lol

Charge over a few hours for sure, you should have a floating point above 12 minimum.

The tuner I used had a voltage minimum set OVER the normal battery's voltage so to me it was looking for the trickle charger to be plugged in.

I just flashed last night and used my wife’s car battery to help keep the voltage correct. I didn’t have an issue, but that’s a 2018. The jumper cables are professional grade and 12’ long so easy to use.
