PFL to Facelift External Conversion on an Avant - Help!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi All,

I am the proud owner of a PFL S4 Avant in Santorin Blue.

I recently bought a A4 Full facelift Avant in the same colour.

I did this as I plan to swap over all the Facelift bits over to facelift mine that and the car was £200 so I figured it was cheaper than buying the parts seperate!

So I took the following off the A4:

    4 x Doors
    2 x Wings
Tailgate (With Spoiler) & Tailgate wiring
    2 x Rear tailgate lights
Central Locking Pump and some of the wiring loom.

What I need to know is:

    Door differences

    1. Looking at the FL A4 Doors compared to a FL S4 the middle bump strips appear to be the same and all that needs is the lower door trims, Am I right and can I swap the ones from my PFL S4 over to the A4 doors or is there more to it?

    2. I know the mirror mounts are different as is the upper door surround so I plan on swapping the tops of the doors over too as well as the inner loom from the other door would this work or is there differences in the mounts on the doors?

    Wing Differences

    3. If I swap the wings over to FL wings should they just bolt right up?

    4. On the new wings will I be able to retain the PFL Xenons until I source some FL ones or do I need to wait till I have the FL lights to put the wings on?

    Tailgate

This is the topic I was dreading the most lol.
From what I have read online on the PFL it is pneumatic controlled and on the FL is electric microswitch controlled from the Central Locking pump.

    5. If I have the central locking pump from the FL can I plug it into the the current system for the door Central locking and then create a loom from the Central Locking wiring I have from the FL car and hook it up that way to the tailgate?? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this at all?

6.Is the lock catch on the car side or do I need the FL one? ( I hope I dont as I forgot to lift it lol)

7.If it isn't easy at all to hook up the FL CL Pump to the FL tailgate retrofit can a button just be added to it to pop it like a boot release button? As I have a FL Dash in the car so the ESP button is redundant.

    8. Fiinally Is there a difference with the FL lights to the PFL ones? I have the FL ones but is it just the reverse light that is different and also is FL lights needed for the FL tailgate?

Sorry for the length of this post but really hope you guys can help me out I will create a wiki / howto when I do this so it is handy for future knowledge

    thanks again!

Pictures of your S4 to help explain things? No way your PFL S4 has the same center door mouldings as the FL. It should be a thin 1" strip compared to the FL 2" strip

Since we (US) didn't get a pfl s4, id suggest looking in the a4 section. I'm sure there's a bit of info looming around over there of the conversion that could help explain some of the differences
