Oil recommendations? I searched!

Anyone have any recommendations for oil brand and kind (10w40 etc) to use in my SQ5 located in western PA with cold winters? I used lubro Moly in my S4 and figured that would be fine just wondered what you all thought? Thanks for the help!

Hi!
SQ5 is TDI and oil must be vw 507.00 and it is 5w 30.
About trademarks, I would choose a trademark renowed (Castrol, Motul, ...).
Oil 5w 30 is better than 10w 40 for cold wheather.

Any reason you want to run 10W40 instead of the recommended 5W40? I'd think you would want the 5W especially if you've got cold winters. FWIW Audi also says 0W40 is ok but doesn't mention 10W40. It should of course meet the VW 502 oil standard.

For oil brands, I'm sure the Castrol Edge that dealers use is fine, especially if you're doing regular maintenance. Lubro Moly is obviously popular here. I'm personally probably going to switch to Amsoil or Pennzoil Platinum at my next oil change.

Sorry. SQ5 in Europe has Diesel Motor. SQ5 in USA is TFSI, it has gasoline motor.
