Roceuro intake installation

I just finished installing the roceuro intake in my c7 a6 and I have some question.
First of all, I wanted to know what is the little secondary filter for?? I know where it goes but I dont know why and it doesn't look to lock in the opening of the elbow, it not holding tight.
Second, is it normal I have backfire like sound from the exhaust (more subtle and lower tone but still) when I press on the gas pedal?

It's a breather filter, when you remove the air box there is a small plastic tube that you disconnected from the box it goes on that. Backfire is not related to the intake install from what I know. Here's a video link.
