Noise from acceleration from a stop

So today I noticed a clunking noise. When I accelerate from a stop, I hear a slight single clunk noise. It only happens once maybe half a second after acceleration from a stop. But, it happens 100% of the time.

I put it in manual mode to see if it's a noise from shifting 1st to 2nd, but it made the same noise even though I kept it at M1. Slow acceleration, very lightly driving in the parking lot.

Any idea what this noise could be?

Weird to hear a noise already, only 200 miles on the car. I booked an appointment next week for the dealer to check it out.

Do you notice anything when you're stopping or only when you're starting from a standstill? And does it happen immediately once you let go of the brakes and the car starts to move forward, or do you have to hit the accelerator to hear it?

When I'm stopping it doesn't seem to make any noise. I will double check.

I did another test after reading your post.

I let go of the brake and let it coast. No noise.
I let go of the brake and let it coast, then very lightly pressed on the gas pedal and the clunk sound happened but it took longer for it to happen. 2 seconds later vs almost immediately when I press it normally.

I'm hoping it's just the brake pads shifting after reading online, but I'm not entirely sure.

That's interesting. I was thinking brake pads like you mentioned, but I would think you'd hear that in situations other than just accelerating. Let us know what the dealer diagnoses as the cause.

My appointment is tomorrow, but I ran in to this post:

It's the same exact issue I have. Am I the only one that hears this from Audizine? :P

Apparently it's normal. I'll take it in anyways.

That's interesting. I've never noticed it before, but I'll listen more closely next time I'm in the car.

Maybe Im over sensitive to noise. I only hear it with windows up, music off, and AC off.

Slowly accelerate and right at 7mph it makes the sound.

I did an additional test. I was on a decline and let the car roll by itself. As soon as it crossed over 7mph it made the same noise.

I listened, and did notice it today. It was really subtle, and I only hear it when accelerating from a stop for the first time after turning the car on. I think I hadn't noticed it because my current and previous Outbacks have done the same thing to greater degree, and with those cars it's the ABS & VDC doing an automated operational check.

    Thanks for checking. ;)

I also checked my wifes 2016 A6. Makes the same exact noise at 10mph. I've been reading it's ABS, TCS and Quattro checks. I wonder why I never noticed it in her car. We had it a lot longer.

Initial start is the loudest. If you listen for it it happens every single time.

I just drove my wife's Q ('16 3.0) and hers does it too.

More importantly, dude, did you get your wheels installed?

LOL I did. I realized I forgot to post pictures! I'll post them up this weekend! The random LA rain made the car dirty.

It's nice but not as nice as yours! I think I'll accidentally curb it and do the satin black powder + gloss black rim guard like yours. It's such a nicer setup!

I appreciate the kind words. I think I remember that your car is white, in which case I think I'd prefer the platinum finish. Either way, congrats, and looking forward to seeing it.

Noise is all gone, even though I have 16000 miles on them, the mounts were shot on the left side.

I have a clunk at 7mph. Did you feel the clunk in the gas pedal? Glad you got yours fixed

I had similar issue with subframe spacer, you might need to screw bolts tighter.
