Selling avant for S4. Yay or nay?

I recently lost my manual b7 wagon and got a B8 avant. Love the looks and everything thing, but miss the manual.
It is a 2009 premium plus with 52k miles. The timing chain, guides, tensioner, piston and rings were changed out less then 2k miles ago. MMI shows no change in oil level after 1800 miles so it looks like the piston and rings worked, what a great feeling.
With the major problems fixed. What would be a fair price to sell this car for? It was a Manhattan car before so it has some minor dings. I was thinking of 19.5k, too high?

Or should I just keep it and continue making this car what i want. Stone guards, tints, tune, muffle and alcantara seats were what was planned for the next couple of years.

    b7 or b8 s4?

Thats tough. Especially since the car is now tip-top.

I would keep it. One of my best friends has a b8 s4 and while its amazing to drive, its still not an avant. I need/love the space and look

Thanks for the reply! Its "the grass is always greener on the other side" effect i'm feeling .

Next car would be a 3.0t S5 or S4 manual if i decide. Have anyone else ever made the jump? Or has both haha, wonder which one you guys would enjoy more.
Read through the forums and couldn't find any major problems with the 3.0t engines. Waterpump and thermostats were about the only ones i have read.

For now I am sticking with my B7 Avant, too much going on, but it is something I have wondered as well. An S4 would be nice, but (and no offence to any B8 S4 owners) they just look dull, that before even getting into the extra practicality of the Avant. Despite that though I do like the S4 and there are many aspects that make it appealing.

Have you looked into getting a C6 A6 Avant? They come with the 3.0T motor as well, obviously a bigger car than the A4/S4 and I am sure the performance is not on the same level as an S4, but maybe an option. Although, just realized manual was one of the reasons you are looking and I don't believe that is an option with the A6.

I can appreciate this dilemma and the lack of a modern manual Avant is what keeps me pouring money into my B6 Avant. Both my wife and I love the manual. If Audi was producing B8 and B9 manuals, I would think twice over spending more money on my 2005 with 174k on it. But since I know that there's nothing in the used Avant market beyond 2008 with a manual, I am happy to make the B6 perfect and keep it for another 3-5 years until I can swallow the fact that to get another wagon that's not 10 years old, I will no longer get to use my left foot, nor have the pleasure from executing a perfect heel-toe downshift. :(

Nice to see that folks have similar concerns about upgrading.

Naiku also brought up a great point. Interior is going to be exactly the same so no change and i also find the exterior of the S4 kinda dull. Which is why i haven't went ahead with any deals. Also finances are tied up but that is another story.
Can't justify or afford the B9 with the virtual cockpit. If manual wasn't on my mind, the C7 A6 is a awesome and sexy car. The night vision, Large DIS and HUD would be a nice change of pace.

My driver side heated seats stopped working this morning! What a bummer.

I just got B6 Avant 1.8T Sport with 6MT for that exact reason - I need the space and I'm installing a trailer hitch on it. Plus I love the late 1.8T which is light and has so much potential for upgrades, decent reliability and plenthy cheap parts. And 6 speed :-) Proven setup .

But there is no way I will part with my S4 . I drove the new allroad, SQ5 , Macan and..blah. No love for any of them. The B8.5 S4 with 6 MT is a different league and one of the few cases when we are not screwed comparing to Europe because the B8.5 is not available there with manual at all. It's all around great sports car.

Three pedals for the win!!! Unless you find a way to do a drivetrain swap, there's one MAJOR feature that you are sacrificing, and you know it every time you drive. Some features in the newer Audi's are pretty sweet, but the fact that there is no 3rd pedal where there should be means I'll do without. Gotta have priorities, so I'd say you need to decide how much that 3rd pedal means to you. For many of us... the experience is worth missing out on a bit of extra tech.
