PSA- Check your coolant line next to the airbox

my tech doing the manifold+CC work called me this morning to let me know that it was so brittle it broke right off when he took the airbox cover off. It's a special order part as well.

If that blows off under pressure ...it'll be bad news. It's age based . Just sayin....

I'll post pics later under a separate thread, but my RS has about 20 K miles since its last carbon cleaning and it wasn't too bad. Still gunky in all 8 but this time it was soft and not caked.., so most of it came off rather quickly with the solvent AoA supplies whereas the previous CC needed walnut shell treatment.

As far as the manifold, it was nasty., the driver side flaps had an amount of play that was close to 25% movement, passenger side not as bad.

It's been 2 weeks since I dropped off the RS ,the manifold took longer than expected to arrive, but I can't wait to get her back. This separation has convinced me that the RS4 is an absolute keeper, it's that good, at least imho.

I would take it over any car that I currently own...including my 911 and definitely my B8.5 S4.

Hit up Komseh, he's got a supplier that's making replacements for these out of aluminum.

Thanks for the heads up !

Funny how VAG cars always seem to build in a part like this:

Porsche Cayenne Turbo ( plastic coolant T in the back of the block )
Audi RS6/S6/S8 ( oil/coolant cooler plastic hose- Jim Bufkin makes an aluminum replacement )
UrS4/S6 has a plastic secondary coolant pump neck that is known to grenade
Porsche 997 GT3 ( epoxied coolant pipes known to blow if tracked too often )

    RS4...
