Wheel fitment question - point me to a thread?

I'm shopping for new wheels and while I have come across several threads regarding this topic, I've yet to find anything concrete. I am looking at 18x8" wheels wirth 235-45-18 tires for my 2006 A3 2.0 FWD. This plus Neuspeed springs which will lower about 1.2" front and rear, or 35mm or so. Does anyone here know if I should anticipate any fitment problems, and what offset would be best? I apologize if this has already been covered, but I have not been able to find any solid answers to my questions.

Those tires are too tall, you want something along the lines of a 225/40-18. The A3 should use a wheel with an offset around ET42-ET48 (depending on other factors).

I was really hoping to be able to use a 235 somehow just for the added traction. 225s break loose on stock power, I can't imagine it'll get better with mods. I wonder about a 235 on a 17in wheel.
