At 90K miles, what other common maintenance items should I consider

    Hello,

    I'm looking at a used 2008 with 90K miles.

Other than checking when the last time the tires, breaks, clutch, battery, carbon work was done, what other common maintenance items should I be considering?

I might not need to get this done I understand, but what are some common parts that might start to let go at this stage that I should at least have some money on the side in case something fails? i.e. buying a 70K plus car so you should have $x amount in case something fails.

    Water pump?
    Starter?
    Exhaust system?
    ball joints?

Sorry I just thought this was not exactly related to my original post as it is more general in nature to maintaining a higher mile RS4.

Thanks i'll read those through tonight.

Where would you suggest I get a compression test/PPI from? Maybe a compression test is overkill?

Everytime I find somebody with the same question as me on any internet forum, the first 4 replies or so are always about the search feature or duplicate threads...

I'd check for the items on the 95k service schedule. Here's the list: https://pictures.dealer.com/aoa/Sche...Chart_2007.pdf

Personally, I'd do a PPI, check the drive shafts, high pressure fuel pumps, and intake.

Can someone give a quick estimate on how much these repairs/maintenance would cost roughly:

    -Replaced all injectors
    -Replaced both HPFP
-Replaced Oil Cooler and Both Lines
-Replaced DRC with coilovers after DRC failure
    -Replaced Engine Mounts
    -Replaced all O2 sensors
    -Replaced front upper control arms
    -Replaced hood strut
    -Replaced both front axles
    -Replaced MAF
    -Replaced coolant reservoir

    Then maintenance stuff
    -Fuel filter
    -Spark plugs
    -Trans fluid
    -Rear Diff fluid
    -Brake fluid

lol no. I have always had a japanese car and other than oil, replacing a starter, ball joint, brakes and a battery I haven't really had to do any other work. And besides the cost on a RS4 is what I trying to guage so I am not surprised later.
Sorry I don't mean to annoy you guys.

My story back early this year: never known about RS4 (had B5 A4, B6 Avant), search on CL for 6 speed, came up RS4 listed 2 hours ago, call & test drive at noon, instant love, made offer, got rejected, went home did some research (on AZ), text owner offer full asking price, (everything happen on the same day). Pick up 4 days later. Never regret. Need I say more?
BTW, if you think this car is as simple as Japanese cars then go back to Japanese cars.

IMHO just deal with it as it comes. Cars will break its their nature. If you have the means and wants to replace everything now go for it. Personally I recommend just dealing with the problems as it arises.

I don't think it is, that's why I am trying to get a handle of how things *could* be. Example, knowing that brakes could cost 2.5-3K for parts is something nice to know ahead of time :)

Id budget or have on hand $2k per year, roughly. Which would allow you to complete your list above in about 5 years.

And good on ya for having a thick skin and taking a little ribbing. Welcome to the RS4 section

Where are these relays located under the hood? How many relays and do you know the part numbers?

How many times can you generally resurface rotors? I think 2 times is the max right?

For me rule of thumb is. If there's a massive lip on the rotor I don't even bother attempting to resurface the rotors. Easier to replace. Most of the time there will be a lip on the rotor. Its normal for a lot of Euro cars to have rotors and pads done each time the service is required.
