    New clutch time! input please.

Hey, Guys its time for a new clutch on the RS. I think the SAC is finally about to give up the ghost. I am getting that dreaded stuck down clutch pedal after high RPM sprint driving. I have been looking around, and I see a lot of people are using the JHM series of clutches.

I was interestest in there LWFW with the stage 1R clutch. What draws me to this is the lighter weight flywheel giving me faster revving
the drawbacks are that they are going to be chatter, how much I don't know that's why I need some input. Now is it worth the extra 1100 bucks for the flywheel??

Next option I saw some talk about the spec stage 2 clutch with their billet still flywheel it's a little lighter but less chatter. the price is a little bit better for their setup.

I don't mind spending the extra money on something like a clutch, it's really a vital part of a car but I don't want to have something I'm going to replace in the next 2 years.

    Thanks
    Billy

I drove a stage 4 JHM clutch, while I did hear alittle chatter when I bogged the car by accident, it wasnt nearly as bad as my fx400 in my mkv gti, but I did hear some chatter. Completely understandable with a lwfw and I've really grown to love the sound, but that's cause my mkv chatters like crazy!

I'm in a similar boat to you and was thinking of going with the 3r, as the car does have a few upgrades and a supercharger in its future.

Good luck with your search, i will say that I had terrible luck with my spec clutch on my vw gti, but alot of people here use them, and both avenues either spec or JHM would be a good choice, considering FT has one on his car for quite a while!

    Cheers

Ive read about just replacing the slave cylinder to address that issue. Worth looking into.

That was Audi's response to the sticky pedal issue. They tried to claim the slave or the line was the culprit because they did not want to spend the money to R&R the clutch/pressure plates. The SAC is the real problem.

Also, you'd want a 3R if going with JHM. I've got the 1R on my S4 and it slips just at high RPM since I have longtube headers. And the headers+tune probably make my car about on par with the RS, so I wouldnt go with the 1R if you push your car very often. Also I've heard people get some chatter with the Spec flywheel so it's just goes with having a LWFW, however it's only an issue when bogging the car

Yea that's that Audi recommended. Some have had luck with just replacing that.

Mine started having weird issues with the clutch/pedal. I said screw it and replaced everything down there; clutch, PP, slave, master. Also went down from the AMD stage 4 to the 3 so it's a little more friendly on the streets. Holds LC and flat shift on a blower car while maintaining near stock pedal feel.
