Fender lining

Noticed my right front fender liner was on my tire. There are no missing clips so what the hell would cause the liner to fall on the tire?




This is the left side, not rubbing but noticed a hole. Is it normal. It's not in the same place as the right side so that makes me think it's not the tires and wheels.

definitely from the tires if you haven't changed anything with suspension. I wore through 2 sets of liners already lol

yea its your suspension. I have 3 inch holes in both sides.

Suspension is stock. Tires and wheels have been on since June. Just so odd that it's not in the same spot on both sides!

Are they easy to change? If I am damaging them with a stock suspension can't image what happens lowered!

i saw that you were on stock suspension thats why i said it's your tires. i've noticed 255 or 265 tires on 9.5" wheels will rub from sharp turns.

liners are easy to change, a few plastic screws and all clips. that's it

Ordered new right side liner, figures the left side was on sale but not the right side.

It is so bad now that its falling on the tire. I keep pushing it back up when I stop. I guess enough has warn away the structure integrity is now lost. May have to just pull it out unit the new one arrives.

If you can order ones for the B8.5 if they fit.

B8.5 switched to a plastic liner instead of the fabric based one on the B8s. I imagine it should be more resilient to damages like that.

Tire Size: 265-35 PSS non Porsche so they are the widest.

It is just so odd they damage is not in the same place on both sides. My CRX has rub marks on the inner fenders from my 245x13s I run in autocross but its the same spot on both sides were it hits. Perhaps something jumped up and damaged it. It just happened because it was not this way a week ago.

I have toasted 2 right side liners and my left is wearing now. Stock suspension.

Wish I could prevent it from happening without changing wheels.

forgot to mention i've worn through a set of OEM liners, then plastic liners i bought on eBay for like $30-40 each side

I wore through my liner on stock suspension with OEM rims and 255 tires.

This is crazy! Seems to be more common than I realized!

ECS got back to me that they do not have a B8.5 right side in stock to compare it to. They sure look easily damaged now that I am examining mine.

mine are worm on the passenger side, 100% stock, 255 tires. Are the fender liners cheap?

Right is $121.58

I also order a liner hardware kit since I do not know I will break removing the old one or if anything is missing. About $38 for that.

Much more than I want to be shelling out every year. Liners should not be a wear item. I just got new wheels the beginning of June of this year. This is nuts!

Jason with ECS said he will compare the B8.5 to a B8 when they get one in to see if the holes and everything else matches up. Hopefully they will and we can use those as they will probably hold up a bit better. This felt fiber crap is stupid and flimsy.

last time i was at the dealer they noticed that my liner is wearing/failing.

seems to be a much larger problem than i thought. I'll admit i looked at them as if they were crazy when they said i need to replace my wheel liner. I've never heard of such a thing unless your lowered or are running different offset wheels, and i'm stock wheels and stock suspension.

@ECS - seems like a business opportunity to make a hard plastic one.

I too have this same issue- stock suspension.

ECS please come out with an aftermarket fix for AUDI's mess...

Tried to get the dealer to warranty... they claim its from damage that I somehow am accountable for

Wish I could get plastic ones for the B8 seems they are all this felt crap! Still hoping that the 8.5s will fit the 8s. That will help right there!

No joke, I am kind of surprised people are rubbing through the B8.5 ones. They are pretty thick plastic and I don't see how ECS could improve on them other than reinforcing the areas known to rub.

I am not surprised at all that people are destroying the B8 ones. Those things are super flimsy, especially when wet!



FWIW, back bumper on a B8 and B8.5 are slightly different, this may cause issues for the few screws that go there.

Front bumpers are also different so there may be some slight modding needed to get a good fit.

I think the cab section is the same so hopefully that will line up perfectly.

Ultimately I think replacing both would be wise for those that are slammed. Maybe just the fronts for those who don't also rub in the back.

I tried using the one from Amazon for the right front fender on my 2012 but it did not fit well. The trailing edge left a gap from the fender which would have allowed crap to get inside the body void. And, the at the lower front, the liner did not line up with the clip and screw holes.

Nothing from ECS yet. Replaced mine last Thursday with the fiber one.

these fit fine. all the holes lined up, got every single clip and plastic nut to fit like they should.

It would make sense since they are made for your car. I think Captain was trying B8.5s on his B8. I am still hopeful that ECS will come back with a comparison as promised.

But Captains findings are not promising.
