Hello everyone, names Andrew and I'm from Columbus, Ohio. I will be purchasing a 98 A4 1.8t Quattro here in a day or so and I'm here for information and things to look forward to with owning an Audi. My background as been DSM's and just last year I Purchased a 98 Trans Am WS6.

A little background on myself if anyone cares, I work at a shipping company as a forklift mechanic, and work part time at a used car dealership inventory/detail.

A little background on my current cars
No longer own DSM's but did have 3 of them along with a Galant VR4

98 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 6spd- longtube headers, SLP Lid. Currently daily driver

    2014 Honda Civic-stock wife's car.

    And come Thursday
98 Audi A4 1.8t quattro. Car was 1 owner 155k car was taken care of just somethings needed to be tended to.
Timing belt due, needs acc. Belts, 2 axle boots, Trans tailshaft seal leaking, oil pan leaking. Car only cost me $800 and runs great.

After maintenance is done my plans are coilsovers and lifting it a bit for ground clearance during winter, come summer lower it with wheels. I'm not into super slammed mad camber but I do like a little amount of camber and a slight stretched tire. I would also like to do a front mount with a blow off valve, because the ricer in me misses the noise.

I also hope this is the correct place to make a full introduction. If not please move. Thanks.

Up to you obviously, but I personally would not recommend a blow off valve, as our cars are designed to seek the air that is recirculated by the stock valve. I've heard it can make the turbo lag more apparent, as the diverter valve air is delivered to the intake manifold, in order to assist in respooling the turbo in the next gear. You could go with a splitter valve, if you want to still hear your car blow off the air, but there have been threads about these causing internal vacuum leaks. The final option is to get a good piston style recirculating valve, such as 007, or even the ebay clone of it.. And run a cone filter, with a PROPER heatshield. The intake is designed very well, and can run up to 300 HP before needing adjustment, but the effects are pretty much negligible, unless you plan on tracking your car on a regular basis.

Hopefully this information helps you. Many ways to get that vroom vroom wooshhhh, but each has their own drawback, do your research, and do what you think you'll like the most.

You definitely have a nice taste in cars I can tell. I've got myself a LT1 1994 Trans Am "GT Package" with the 1996 Ram Air hood and rims, and I've got the big boy 6MT as well. The LS1s are great engines... The whole Firebird is. Good luck with the cars man!

Hopefully these system are similar to DSM's use the MAF style system needing that certain amount of air until swapped to speed density. I'll probably just end up doing an exhaust and adding gauges for monitoring oil pressure/boost and a wideband, and put the money into the Trans Am, I want a 6liter iron block swap, but may just go with build heads and cam, and possibly nitrous.

Don't do a front mount unless you're going big turbo. The lag is miserable on a K series turbo.

As far as I'm aware, on the stock shabam.. Yes I just said that... The A4 is going to run rich, running the BOV is going to make the car run even more rich. I've heard of murdered catalytic converters due to this. BUT, I'm.no expert. By all means, if you can make it work for you, then I say go for it. All depends on what you are willing to do.

So like swap an LT1/LT4 in, bore & stroke it to a 6.0L? Sounds like a good idea. I'll probably tear apart my LT1 in a few years and swap forged internals, and look into a supercharger kit.

I'll have to look around for DSM pics. Didn't really take a lot.

As for the Audi, I want to get the maintenance done on it. Then look into lifting it a little for winter ground clearance. I know coilovers is the way to go but money is tight and I would rather put my extra money into my TA. Do they make a strut spacer? I'm looking an inch or so and a slightly larger more aggressive tires. I'm a fan of using the AWD systems on vehicles.
